Which side of the telescope 1100-102 should face the sky? I cannot seem to see any images

The end with the FOCUSER is the up end of the tube. The large mirror is on the bottom.

That's because this telescope is what's called a reflector. The image in reflector telescopes are upside down. This isn't an issue since reflectors are designed for looking at the night sky.

All astronomical telescopes show upside down images, you must add extra glass to erect the image which will dim the images of deep sky objects in the eyepiece.

You can buy an "erecting" prism for terrestrial viewing.

Up side down piture telescope

All astronomical telescopes have upside down images -- it' s normal. To erect the image would require more glass which would dim already faint sky objects.

My telescope shows every object upside down,this is a problem for observing wildlife or ships at sea.Is there a solution to reverse mirrors.Thx Rob

All astronomical telescopes show upside down images. You can buy what is called "erecting prism diagonal" which will turn the image right side up.

I am having problems viewing

All astronomical telescopes show upside down images. There is no up or down in space. To ERECT the image would take additional GLASS lenses. MORE glass means less light pass-through for those dim sky objects.

Why is the image upside down?

All astronomical telescopes show up side down images. There is no up or down in space. However you can buy what is called an "erecting prism" diagonal for terrestrial viewing.

Most of the objects in the sky are very dim. Adding another series of glass lenses just to erect the image would only reduce the light transmitted through the telescope.

View is side to side.

All astronomical telescopes show upside down images. You would need to add an additional "erecting prism" to turn them right side up. This just puts more glass between you and the dim sky image. You can buy an "erecting prism" from many on line retailers.

How to use telescope at night?

Many people have the same problem-- with these small telescopes you are stuck with seeing only the moon, and several other planets, and maybe a few bright star clusters.

These are all TINY objects (except for the moon).... when you look through the telescope you are looking at a section of sky about the size of your fingertip held at arms length-- the scope must be pointed DIRECTLY at the object. Practice on the moon first-- and then try to find Saturn which is up in the sky right now-- it looks like a dim (slightly yellow) star.

It's the nature of the way telescopes work that means all images are seen inverted. For astronomical use, this isn't really a problem.

You can buy an "image erector lens" to correct the image and see it rightside-up though.

This is normal behavior for an astronomical telescope. There is no right-side-up in the sky, and turning the image around adds cost and reduces optical clarity. You can buy correct image finders and image-erecting diagonals, if you choose to do so, but in general to reduce the cost to the consumer they are manufactured without them.
