Unplug the unit and take the inside skin out of the freezer. Use a hair dryer to heat the rear, top and bottom, to melt any remaining ice. Look in the back, where the tubes enter the unit, for possible mouse damage. There should be absolutely no open space anywhere. Make sure the fins are completely dry and the drip tray underneath is not blocked. Reassemble and plug it in.

My whirlpool s21w2d freezer is working ok, but refrigerator is not cool

The place to start is in the freezer..Is there ice on the back freezer panel? the freezer cools the refrig section and if froze over..the air will not flow to ff section. we have to make sure the coil is not frosted over...this is the most likely fault...the damper that lets air into the ff section can also be froze and not openning..if you have digital readout you can be sure you have electric damper...See if you feel air flow out of vent in top left corner of ff section. if no air or very little.. look for the freezer coil being froze or the damper stuck shut...of coarse, the freezer fan may not be running or coming up to speed...I use a skewer or something like that to slide it thru the damper and wiggle it around until it slips in further..this opens the damper and lets air in if its bad of coarse...the fix would be..leave it open with skewer until you buy a new damper...if froze up in freezer..defrost with hair dryer and find what caused freeze up situation. This is where you need a little more experience working with multi-meters. UNPLUG and check reading to heater and to defrost thermostat..if ok, the defrost timer is at fault.

Frigidaire 16.5cu top mount not cooling fridge. freezer is froze

The baffle that opens to allow cooling into the refrigerator may be blocked, broken or mis wired. These units work by just cooling the freezer and then blowing some cold air into the refrigerator whenever the fridge thermostat calls for it. The fridge's thermostat is trying to cool the refrigerator but something is preventing the cool air from getting to the refrigeration part, that's why it's freezing up the freezer
