Question about Franke Saphira Espresso & Coffee Maker

1 Answer

Hi, Franke Saphira. 'Empty Drip Tray' message doesn't shift when in descale mode - not in any other mode though, only when trying to descale. Any ideas? Cheers

If you keep the empty drip tray message, especially after making a drink or cleaning operation this points to a leak internally on to the drip tray contacts. or from the thermoblock leaking onto the wiring loom behind the front door panel. An engineer will be required to fix this as the correct seals will be needed. I have been a Franke Service Engineer for 15 Years.

My Miele CVA 4066 is stuck in descale mode.

Does it stop in the step where it tells you to remove the drip tray and empty it - you reinstall the drip tray and nothing happens?
If you reset power - does it start the Descale process all over?

I have the Miele 4066. I ran the descaling program. When it was finished it read a message that it didn't run properly to run again. But it gets stuck on empty drip tray mode. I even unplugged it

Take out drip tray and inspect the 2 contacts at the rear. Clean these and surrounding area. Also inspect the contacts at the back of the tray slot to see if these are also dirty. Then re-try. Hopefully this will fix the problem. Regards

How do I check the milk brother valve on my coffee machine

saphira? check the air nozzle on top of the cappu-outlet . if the machine indicates that you should descale, the cleaning cyclus wont work. to descale you have to turn off the machine by pressing the on-off button on the front side (behind the tea-and steam button). if the machine is turned off, press the descale button for 3 seconds. after the descaling cyclus you will be able to clean the machine.

My frankie flair grinds the beans but the water just goes straight to the drip tray why

this problem is usual caused by the valve at the base of the brew unit. not working correctly or the solenoid which controls it. usually a replacement brew unit can resolve this.

Once started, the descaling procedure may not be stopped. • When acid-containing descalers are used, immediately remove any splashes or drops on sensitive surfaces, particularly from natural stone and wood surfaces. Also, take the appropriate safety precautions. • Turn off the Saphira by pressing the "ON/OFF" button. • Press the button "Descale" until an acoustic signal is heard. • Display: EMPTY DRIP TRAY (Fig.1) • Display: INSERT AGENT IN TANK • Display: PRESS DECALCIFYING Dissolve 2 DESCALING tablets completely in 2.5 cups of water in a vessel and pour the mixture into the empty water tank. Place a sufficiently large container under the steam tube and the coffee delivery outlet. • Press the Descale button • Display: UNIT DECALCIFYING • Display: PLEASE WAIT • An acoustic signal is heard. • Display: EMPTY DRIP TRAY (Fig.1) • Display: FILL WATER TANK • Display: PRESS DECALCIFYING • Press the Descale button • Display: UNIT DECALCIFYING • Display: PLEASE WAIT • An acoustic signal is heard. • Display: EMPTY DRIP TRAY • Display: CLEAN CONTACTS

Malfunction 8, intermittent Sometimes the brewer seems to be straining, then up comes the malfunction 8 message. I think the brewer needs a good clean and lubricating, possibly the seals are in need of...

You're right about the straining bit. It's a jammed worm drive. Usually Malfunction 8 is preceeded by painful noises and sometimes even though the machine sounds like it's brewing, all the coffee ends up in the drip tray instead of the cup! The machine will need stripping, the worm drive cleaned off and lubricated and then reassembled. It's about an hour's job. Hope this helps.

Empty Drip Tray message

Try to clip off the tray contacts and clean behind them. If they are dirty and wet on the backside the machine will keep asking you for Empty tray. Use a small screwdriver and clip them off from the inside of the tray
