SOURCE: Reformated used HP recovery disc when I restart it says SW build ID different from ID on recovery media

You have 2 options. You can write to Microsoft or to HP about your Issue & they might be able to help about the ID issue. Best I would suggest you buy the OS. ( Full installation Pack) this way you have nothing to worry.

SOURCE: Reformat a gateway gt5220? I keep having it ask

Essentially you can either use the recovery disk or use a MS Operating System installation disk which will allow you to rebuild the system from scratch. You will also need to have the drivers for the system which you can download from the following link for free

Reformat the hard drive with an Fdsk command. You will need the operating software original disks to do this because when you reformat the computer will be so stupid it can't start. You will have to reload all of the software if you go this approach.

HOW TO SET ORIGINAL SIZE OF HDD SEGATE BARRACUDA ST380011A THAT I WAS SET TO LIMITED SIZE I.E. 32GB NOW I WANT SET IT TO 80GB WHICH IS ORIGINAL SIZE.

you could do it by reformatting your hard drive which would mean loading your operating system again during the formatting process you will be given the option to select a partition or to select another or resize or download some software either partition magic which enables you to rezize your your already partitioned hard drive without losing any of you data http://www.filehoo.com/download/Partition-Magic-8,0.aspx when you download partition magic you will have the option to make rescue to disks to boot from make these disks then change your first boot device your to floppy drive this will give you options to partition then partition only the good sectors of your hard drive and install an operating system to the good partition
Partition Magic 8.0 description
Partitioning your hard drive plays an essential role in maintaining your computer-preventing conflicts, protecting data, improving efficiency, and increasing performance.
PartitionMagic allows you to create, resize, merge and convert partitions without destroying data. Award-winning

PartitionMagic Pro from Symantec is a leader in hard-drive partitioning software. PartitionMagic Pro allows you to create, resize, move, and convert partitions without destroying your data. You can quickly and easily create partitions, which can act as file drawers on your hard disks for storing valuable information such as data files, applications, and operating systems.

Storing information in separate partitions helps you organize and protect your data, safely run multiple operating systems, and reclaim wasted disk space.

hope this helps

Windows is unable to read the usb

When you formatted the drive for the Mac, you probably used the HFS format. Windows can only read NTFS or FAT formatted drives. You will need to reformat your external drive again. If you use a FAT32 format, all computers will be able to read the drive (Windows, UNIX and Mac - anyway). Note: the FAT32 option does limit the number of files in each directory and the maximum file size.

First back up any files that you have put on the external drive to another disc (your computer's hard disc, for example).
If you are using the M2 external disc for Time Machine backups, you should partition the drive into two sections. Format one to the FAT32 and the other to HFS.

The Disc Utility in OSX can repartition the drive and reformat it. However, sometimes it doesn't correctly format the new partitions. You may need to do some extra step, see http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~pcarbo/macnexstar.html for one set of reformatting steps. In Windows, there is a similar utitily in the Disk Management Control Panel. (Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Create and format hard disk partitions (Windows 7)) You can only format the disc to FAT or NTFS with the Windows utility.

Some third-party software is available for changing the partitions on a hard drive formatted for Windows use without losing the data on the disc. I do not know if similar programs exist for OSX.

Some versions of Unix have gparted which will also repartion and reformat a hard disc but can't keep the original data on the drive. (I've used the Windows and Unix partition managers, including Paragon Partition Manager which let me keep my original Windows data on the drive.)

I hope this helps.

I AM LOOKIG FOR BEST SOLUTION ON HOW TO FIX TROJAN VIRUS IN MY RAM MEMORY

A Trojan virus can only be in your memory (RAM) if it's somewhere else on your hard drive. Your RAM loses all of the information its storing when the computer is shut off, it doesn't hold data the way a hard drive does. Back-up all of your info that you don't want to lose, and then reinstall Windows choosing the option to reformat the hard drive\partition and then install. You could try to run some free-ware virus programs on it before trying to reinstall Windows. I like AVAST Antivirus, Malwarebytes' Antimalware, & SuperAntiSpyware. There are some viruses and bugs that just can't be removed without reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling your operating system.

if it is working then why need to reformat?

try to back up your files first before you reformat it, just copy paste all the imporatnt data to a folder on your computer, after that you can now reformat your flash drive

Partmgr sys

did the computer originally come with windows xp or an older operating system?looks like you may have some hardware issues.download ultimate boot cd from this link.Follow the directs to burn the image to disc.Boot from the CD and run memtest to check your memory, then run any of the hard drive diagnostic tools from the hard drive manufacturer.Let me know what happens after that.If none of the hardware fails I will recommend using one of the hard drive formatting tools to do a low level format on your hard drive and try installing the operating system again.note,if you have files that you need on the hard rive you'll lose them if you reinstall the operating system without backing them up.

Restoring factory settings on Dell 1501

You can run a system repair with the recovery or operating system disc to get it back to the factory settings. A repair will reset the system, and leave any of your files, pics, and programs that you've put into the machine. If you want to clear everything, and go back to the factory settings, then reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system.

Non Destructive recovery

Recovery discs are wonderful things aren't they? Most people lose or damage their disc and don't have it when it's needed. I would recommend making a copy or disc image on the hard drive of the recovery disc just in case. Glad I could help, if you need anything else just let me know.

my old computer had a problem like this, i think the only way to fix a problem like this would be to reformat your hard drive and reinstall your operating system, which would delete everything on your hard drive...if you do not want to lose the files on your hard drive, you can hook up the hard drive to a different computer as a secondary drive and take the files you need off of it...then put the drive back in the original computer and reformat...after that just put back the files back on the original computer with a flash drive or an external hard drive...
cant think of another way to solve this
