    Bad ESC Seq

The ‘Bad Esc Seq’ message on the MT645 indicates the printer is not recognizing some of the commands it receives in the data from the host computer system. These commends are sent in the format of Escape Commands Sequences hence the ‘Bad Esc Seg’ error message displayed on the printer.
There can be a number of reasons for the printer displaying the ‘Bad Esc Seq’ error.
The first thing that it may be worth doing would be to power the printer off then disconnect the printer from the computer system. Once the printer has been disconnected from the computer system power the printer back on again. If the ‘Bad Esc’ Seq’ message is seen when the printer is disconnected from the computer system this would tend to indicate there is a fault with the printer.

If the printer powers on OK and does not display any errors when it is disconnected from the computer system it is possible that one of two things is happening.

The first thing is that a print job has been sent to the printer using the wrong printer driver on the computer system, this will send data to the printer that it does not recognize. If this is the case the print job on the computer system would need to be cancelled and resent using a printer driver suitable for the MT645.

The other thing that may have happened is that the Emulation setting on the printer may have for some reason changed so the printer not longer matches the set up on the computer system. You may need to change the emulation setting on the MT661 so it matches the host computer system set up. The printer may need to be set to either Epson or IBM emulation depending on the computer system set up.

    The Current emulation setting on the printer can be found by printing a configuration page, this can be done in the following way;
    Put the printer OFFLINE
    Press the MODE button
Press the DOWN ARROW until HELP is displayed
    Press ENTER
The printer will print out a configuration page showing the current settings, this will include the Emulation setting. This can be checked to ensure it matches the computer system set up, or change to ensure the emulation is correct for your application.
If you are printing from Windows try printing using the Generic Text only printer driver, this will not send escape commands to the printer, so should print correctly. If you still see the Bad Esc Seq message I would recommend having a look into the connectivity between he printer and the computer system.

    Tally T8106

The T816 can be used with Vista and XP over a Ethernet connection....You will not however be able to 'discover' the printer on the network. You need to set an IP Address in the printer or if the printer has been allocated a DHCP address you would need to find out what address has been allocated.
Once you know the IP Address you would need to install the printer on a PC/Server then share it to other users to be able to 'see the pritner on the network'

Once the pritner driver has been installed you can create a network port in the pritner driver to print to the IP Address of the pritner in the follwing way (on XP, Vista will be simmilar)

    · Open PRINTERS folder
    · Right Click on the printer driver for the T8106
    · Select PROPERTIES from pop up menu
    · Click on the PORTS tab
    · Click on the ADD PORT button
    · Highlight STANDARD TCP/IP PORT
    · Click on NEW PORT
    · This should open the TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard, work through this entering the IP Address and Port Name. Windows may try to detect the port configuration required.
    · If the type of port is not automatically detected click on the CUSTOM radio button.
    · Click on the SETTINGS button
    · Change the PROTOCOL to LPR
    · Under LRP SETTINGS enter the Queue Name as PASS
    · Click OK.
    · Click NEXT and then FINISH to finish the TCP/IP ports wizard.
