Pendrive shows o kb for both free and available size, and format cannot be possible

format the flash drive

When u r formating your pen drive you have to chose "default allocation size" in Allocation unit size option, than format the pendrive.

Copy all the files from the pen-drive to your 'C:' drive.
Open "My Computer".
Right-mouse click on the icon for the pen-drive.
Click "Format".
Choose "quick-format".
When the "format" completes, it should show the full size.
Copy all the files back onto the pen-drive.

if u still having the same problem, follow these steps:

1.Insert your pendrive. open mycomputer, note the respective drive showing pendrive.

2. Then go to run and type cmd ( or go to command prompt)

3.It will show like: C:\> or C:\Documents and Settings\UserName>

4.Type the drive name of pendrive as shown in e.g
if drive is h: then type as

c:\>h:
h:\>format h:
it will format and ask for media name, you can give the name of your pendrive.

your pen drive is formatted. Now it will show the free space as 8G.B

you have to stop Autorun feature of your windows which kicks in when we connect any new storage device first, then you will be able to format the drive and start fresh.

5. Click OK, and then exit Registry Editor.
6. Restart the computer.

first backup all your data..then try formatting from command prompt by typing format x: where x: is your pen drive... if that doesnt work,try the mformat utility available here http://www.4shared.com/file/64277329/48498e3c/mFormat.html

Try to format in other operating system like windows vista or in windows 7 because in vista and 7 you can force format your pendrive
