Question about Vizio L32 32 in. LCD HDTV
Called Vizio Customer Support @ 1-877-698-4946: They said it was a firmware issue that will be resolved with a usb thumb drive they will send out to me. All i have to do is plug it in and turn the tv on....we'll see when it gets here if it in fact does the trick....They appeared to be helpful so far.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Old messages and bcipollina is gonna get to read this resonse twice; sorry-
If it just fails to turn on or ignores the remote, the main power supply is probably at fault and without some technical background and a couple of test instruments, you will not be able to do the repair yourself.
What you can do though is; unplug the set, let it stand overnight or at least several hours, remove the back panel and look for a separate board with mostly larger components on it; it will have a ferrite core transformer on it and several larger capacitors which are cylindrical and mounted vertically to the board.
Before touching anything inside, especially on that board, allow several hours to be safe since the larger capacitors can hold a painful voltage charge for some hours.
If you see signs of overheating such as discoloration of the board material, it may not be repairable but if you can find a part number on the board, you might be able to buy the power supply and install it yourself.
If there are no signs of heat damage to the board, there may be companies offering to repair it as a subassembly instead of repairing the whole set which could be much more expensive.
If you choose to replace or have it done, the power supply still may not be at fault since most are capable of switching on and off if a downstream problem is causing an overload.
BTW, from what I have read about Vizio, I think they are close relatives to iLo which was also sold by Wal-Mart.
Quality control anyone?

What you have is a darfon V144 board (junk). it's a simple fix if you know how to use some basic tools and a soldering iron. Get an led (i used digikey's PN: L10041-ND) and solder it from pin 10 to pin 16 on the OZ960 chip on the inverter board. If you need the chip layout type "OZ960 pdf" in google. Hope this helps.

Please confirm the model number of this TV, is it a Vizio L37? I am checking into this now for you.. The first thing to try though is to just unplug the TV from the power source for a good two minutes, let it sit unplugged, then replug it back in and see if it still does not come on.
Let me know what happens when you do that, and confirm the model number.

SOURCE: My vizio said input locked
hi good day
have you been tried before to reset to the default settings?.then so as of now when you tried to turn on the tv it shut right back down. ok unplug your tv and then removed all the input connectors from any other source then re plugged your tv unit and turn it on if still it shut down right away. now check if their is a light indicator at the front panel. so since it was always turn off you are going to open the back cover of your unit to gain access the internal part for proper check up and to fix the main cause.to start checking you will need to turn on the tv for test voltage checking with the use of digital tester make sure always apply safety while doing this. turn it on then check the out put voltage if present at the power supply. the stand by 5v, switch 5v, 12v, and 24v. if the PS_ ON signal voltage coming from the processor is not present their was a problem at the main board. now if the PS_ON signal from the board is pass through the power supply but their are no output voltage coming from the power supply you have bad power supply. check failure component at the power supply however if you want a new refurbished power supply you can find at www.shopjimmy.com just let me know if it works hope it will help you thanks for consulting the fixya service good luck.
