I have an older Toshiba NB 205-N210 with a flashing cursor on a black screen. No recovery discs - No function keys allow me to do anything on startup. What do I need to place on a thumb-drive to recover...

I need more info to be able to help you. What operating system are you using?
XP? VISTA? Windows 7?Do you see the windows startup screen?
if not... I suggest you go to the CMOS setting, it seems that you lost your hard drive configuration, if you do not know how to do that, just go to the save menu and load the "Setup Default" or it maybe called just "Defaults, or CMOS Defaults, after that your computer should boot up. Make sure that the primary boot drive is your hard drive and not anything else.Tony

Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at

When I turn my netbook on, its say press F2 for setup and F12 for boot device selection menu but when i press either, nothing happens. (Its stuck at this menu and will not power up)

You can try checking RAM modules to see if properly seated. If are then its probably a shot motherboard. Quite common unfortunately.
Good luck

Tosheiba Netbook NB205-N210 2 GIG, upgrade to Windows 7

I personally have not but if you are concerned how it will run, you should be fine, windows 7 is very efficent on resources.
  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
These are system specs so if you exceed these then your laptop will run great.

    Hope this helps

Spilled coke on my keyboard, how do we clean it

Thank you for your query

Best thing would be to get a damp cloth and simply wipe over the keyboard when the laptop is switched off, this will remove the stickyness.

Please ensure when wiping that no water travels into the keyboard which may cause you problems
