The problem could be with the mic. If there is a problem with the mic it will make either the receive not work, or the volume seem real low. The weather will work fine if the mic is bad.

I have an almost new Midland 75-822 that the WX works fine on, but the CB doesn't seem to receive, or transmit. It operates normally, but no reception, and no evidence of transmissions.

you'll need a schematic and some knowledge. there a two diodes that control the rx and two that control the dx.Check them to make sure they are producing the correct power out put if they are not you should replace all 4

There is a small capacitor that drops value next to the audio output ic, usually heat sinked to the inner chassis, " ic should be checked" for hairline crack and performance, to answer your question it can be repaired.

Receives very well- other radios can barely hear me-I have a short mag base antenna

The rule is the taller the antenna the better the reception and power output. Of course it is not always convenient to mount a 102" whip.
  • 4 watts into a 102-inch whip antenna, it is the same output as if you put 11 watts into a 3-foot whip.
  • 4 watts into a 102-inch whip antenna,, it is the same as if you put 14 watts into a 28-inch antenna.
  • 4 watts into a 102-inch whip antenna, it is the same as if you put 54 watts into a 7.5-inch antenna.

You did not mention the signal on their meter and how close they are. This may be a modulation issue. Wattage increases can go unnoticed volume wise but small modulation increase can make dramatic changes in volume to the receiving radio. Check that your dynamike or mike gain control is turned up clockwies increases it. The radio itself may need the modulation increased internally. If you have a powermike with adjustments on back it may be way to low. Hope this was of some help

My 2010 Ultra Classic with 200 miles has cd skip. Store bought home made and mp3 all skip. Bike was ok for first 50 miles. Sometimes it switches to the weatherband. Plugged in ipod as alternate and...

Radio switching to weatherband is an indication that the weather alert function of the CB is turned on. If the weather channel transmits an alert signal, it will switch to weatherband. Speakers cutting out may be your VOX setting is too sensitive or the squelch setting on the CB is too sensitive. Lower both the VOX and squealch and see if that works. Have new dx959 doesnt get out very far talking 100yrds or so use rdking 56 mic mic works fine on old radio pc 78 and gets out fine also are 959 radios ok or junk has good reception

The DX959 has an output power setting knob. It's located next to the channel selector and is labeled RF Power. Turned counterclockwise will reduce output power. Turned clockwise will increase output power. Your switch is probably turned all the way counterclockwise resulting in low transmit volume.
Also, make sure the wiring for the RK59 is correct for the Galaxy. Even though it's a 4 pin plug, the pinouts may be different for the Uniden and Galaxy radios. Do a Google search for mic pinouts for your two radios to check.
