No heat 2006 pontiac torrent awd

your air damper or diverter may not be working.this is basically a mechanism that opens a flap by your heater core to control the amount of hot air that comes out. There is a rod that this flapper pivots on and if this rod is broken or the motor that operates it is not working you will either have heat all the time or no heat at all depending on which position it broke at.I know because my torrent has the same problem. To fix my problem they have to remove the dashboard to access the heater core which amounts to major $$$. I hope your problem is an easier fix. good luck

I can smell coolant when heater is on and coolant light is on

Sounds like the heater core is leaking. Fill up the coolant and look under the carpet on the passenger side and see if there is not coolant there. IF it is a really minor leak you may be able to use a radiator fix, but do not buy something cheap and follow the directions. If one application does not seal it up, replace the heater core. It is not worth overheating the motor to try more of the sealer; it can clog the coolant passageways in the motor.

Hope this helps

You got what people call RROD (Red Ring of Death) Very common with this model and Microsoft has extended the warranty to 3 years to fix if you have not opened it yourself.  The flaw is internal and nothing you have done unless you been wrastling with the thing or spilled liquid on it.

if the compressor suction line is getting cold and sweating and the line going out to condensor is hot - the compressor is working - the electric door to cut off heat is stuck or motor coupling could be broke - this unit under the dash can be hard to get to - i have installed a valve in heater hose to cut off hot water in summer on older cars - cheap fix - unless you want to take out dash

I have a 2000 ford windstar no heat still

My 99 windstar did this too. It was the blend door that the actuator motor goes into was broke. When you pull the actuator out look into the hole and see if you see a d shape piece coming out of the box if it is not d shape it is broke check out this site great photos

I purchased a Friedrich PDH15KS BTU Cooling, 17,000 BTU Heating, 9.3 EER PTAC Air Conditioner With Heat Pump and 5.0 KW Backup Electric Heat....in October of 2007...it was installed in November and ran...

The Warranty will be expired. Sounds like the contactor for the heater is wearing. Obviously a guess, but, "rattling" sounds like a bad cintactor to me. If thats the case, im guessing $100 diagnostic, $75 for the contactor, ISH...Best Wishes!!

NO HEAT

Les, it sounds like your blend door actuator has failed, it is a small vacuum operated diaphram up under the dash that controls a flapper that switches between the cool air and heated air. Good news is that it is an inexpensive part, bad news is pulling the dash out to get to it.

There is only hot air coming out of the heating system. Is there something serious wrong or can this be fixed?

I once owned a yugo back in the 80s, and the only thing good about that car was that it was equipped with a rear window defroster, so when it broke down in cold weather, which was frequently, my hands stayed toasty warm while pushing it. As for the hot air problem, it is probally the water valve that leads to the heater core. From my recollection, there is a wire cable coming from the temperature knob from the dash which is routed to the engine compartment to the water valve. When the temp knob is set to heat, it moves the cable which in turn opens the valve, thus letting hot water from the engine block to the heater core. The cable could be broken or just disconected. Or, the valve itself may need to be replaced, which is a fairly simple job, The difficult task is finding a new replacement part. I would suggest not installing a used or junkyard part as they are most likely rusted and non functional. In conclulsion, this is not a serious problem, but only a minor inconvenience during the warmer months.
