Should i oil any parts of my norelco 885rx

It is not a bad idea to oil the motor drive and the tree drive gears every few years. A drop of lightweight oil on each end of the motor drive is all you need.

The heads can be lubricated with Norelco shaver lubricant and cleaner. It is found at at the link below

How should I lubricate the screen and cutter on my electric shaver?

While your electric shaver is running, you should spray a lubricant on the shaving screen in order to avoid the metal to metal binding. You don't need to wipe off any remaining lubricant.

Where exactly should I place the drop of lubricating oil?

Hi ajkhoudair,

Place the drop of oil on your finger, and rub in a circular motion on all three razor heads (one drop will suffice for all three). Once you lubricate the three heads, turn the razor on so that the oil is able to move into the chamber. It is suggested to do this once every four weeks.

I have a Rotatract electric razor, HP1601. Do I need to lubricate and if so, how?. Can I still get parts, and if so, where and what? Can I get a manual somewhere. this is a very old razor that I haven't...

I have no way to get you a copy of an owner manual as this is a very old model made before Norelco begnning offering on-line user manuals.
There are some parts available for your shaver. The parts most likely to need replced are the shaver heads and the motor brushes. You will find these parts at See links below

It is suggested that all shavers have the heads lubricated. Norelco makes a product for this and it is also found at

Internal lubrication is not often needed but if your shaver is a bit noisy a 3 in one oil can be used. You will need to take off the outer case of the shaver by removing two screws on the one side and one screw on the other. Once the insides are removed, you can remove the two metal clips that hold the gear housing on. You can then remove the gears and lubricate the spindels they fit onto and oil the pinion gear.
Reassemble in reverse order

How to lubricate Norelco 3405 shaver?

The sewing machine oil should work fine.
This model has 4 screws on the back. You must push up the trimmer to see two of those but the other two are in plain view. Remove screws with a flat jewelers screwdriver or you can purchase a special removal tool from here:

Once the back cover is removed, you will be able to see the motor. It is attached to the gear housing by two metal clips. Remove the clips and you can lift the motor out. Apply a couple of drops of your oil to the pinion gear on the 'front' of the moto and a drop to the small indentation on the back of the motor.

If you still have noise. you will need to lubricate the gears. Temove the gear housing by removing the 2 screws that are on either side of the motor. The gear housing will then come off. The front and back of the housing are held together by plastic snaps on the three corners. Gently pry them apart to seperate and reveal the gears inside. Lift the gears out and apply a light form of grease to where the gears fit onto the back of the gear housing. Vaseline should work well if you have nothing else.
Reassemble in reverse order and it should run very quiet when you're done

Braun Synchro 7680 - "Oil" message

Had the same problem on my shaver too. Bought this product:

(I know the link says foil cutter, but it takes you to Braun lubricating oil!)

I apply the lubricating oil to the foil etc, then the word "oil" disappears. Then after a while the word "oil" comes back and I apply the oil again and so on, my shaver still performs normally.

Hope this helps.
