Question about Fisher and Paykel (IWL12)

1 Answer

When I turn it on it fills intermitantly - fills for 10seconds, then stops and starts continually. I have tried everything - turning on and off and moviing through the cycle. Even filling manually to get water level up - but then nothing happens at all. I have checked all filters on valves etc.. but still not working. I did have some air locks in the hot water system which could have caused the problem but not sure of that one. Can you help

The problem has progressed since then. The filling problem rectified itself - firstly by overfilling and flooding the laundry :( - then that sorted. However it will not progress through the cycle - it gets as far as Rinse - pumps our in short busts - the Rinse LED goes off - leaving the amber LED and the Red "Spin" Led on - and then gives a fault beeping. There is no Spin taking place whatsoever.

The Wash Progress LEDs indicates a code when a fault is detected. Some of the LEDs flash to indicate the fault code number. Please specify which among the LEDs are flashing to determine the fault code and pinpoint the faulted part so that necessary actions can be undertaken. It is fault code number 3 if you are referring to the last two LEDs of the Wash progress LEDs on the right. It means a memory error is found in the Motor Controller Module itself. Unplug the machine for at least an hour to forcibly reset the microprocessor and eliminate the possibility of an electronic glitch. The only viable solution if all else fail is replacing the Motor Controller Module.

It sounds like the starting capacitor has failed. It is the round thing with two wires normally mounted on the outside of the motor. There is also a starting switch that could have failed but it is eaiser just to try the capacitor first.

Question: Our Kenmore elite microwave model 66561689101 intermitting on and off. Most of the time it turns off just after it starts and then makes a weird screech sound and then starts back up and is good...

Only thing mechanical on nuker is the cooling fan assembly and /or the turntable platter. Something not turning properly is responsible for screeching noise. And if something is not turning properly there could be a sensor to detect this and shut unit down.

Washer continues to work even if water is not filled to top and even if i try to stop continues to spin

A defective pressure switch can interfere with the cycles that depend upon the switch to indicate when water has filled or emptied from the tub. It can also result in underfilling or overfilling of the tub. The switch routes current from the timer control to the temperature switch and the water inlet valve when the tub needs to be filled. Once full, the pressure switch cuts the current and reroutes it to the motor on the timer control to continue the cycle.

I had the same problem.

You probably only have cold water connected and you need to "program" it for cold water only.

By default it expects both cold and hot water connected and even though you can select "cold" it will still error if not hot water supply is present.

Call Fisher & Paykel customer care and they will tell you how to re-code it for cold only.
