The virus can not get your Ip address ..the issue may be that you did not installed the LAN card driver ..After you install all the drivers ..just try again ..cause with dsl modem you do not have a static Ip address but you just obtain one automatically so ...after you install the driver for the LAN card ..just reset the modem and run the disk that you have from the provider with the settings for the modem ..or call them to advice for the settings ..if they did not provided a disk with automate settings ..
the LAN card needs no further settings but just in case you have a static Ip address..in your case I think you have to leave it like that cause by default it is set to obtain an Ip address automatically ..
If the the modem never been unplugged or something like that it will work after you install the LAN card ..
either use the drivers for your motherboard is the card is on board ..or look for the disk with your lan card driver ..
