Question about GE 22.3 Cu. Ft. Bottom-Mount Refrigerator - White-on-White

Open Question

WE have GE model:GBS22HCPBWW. The upper part doesn't cool although it has power and light. GE technician was at our home and he determined that thermomist went bad . After he replaced the part the fridge didn't start cooling. Three days after he came back and claimed that motherboard is bad, replaced it and still doesn't cool in fact the light bulb in the freezer stopped working too. 2-3 weeks ago we had short circuit in our home when the light bulb broke so we noticed that fridge stopped cooling after that. Is there any connection between that short circuit and possibly some fuse or...? I have to call GE again to find out what's wrong, but if you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

SOURCE: GE side by side refrigerator has stopped working...

sound to me that the unit may be stuck in defrost. look for the time clock and or if it is a newer unit check your condenser coil it may be dirty. the unit may also have a leak on the refrigeration side of it.

SOURCE: GE side by side. Freezer cold, fridge kinda cool

i had a similar problem, i found that the small mast on the motor turning the fan was just spinning and the fan was spinning just a little bit because it sits on there. I took the plastic fan off and put tape around the mast of the fan motor and placed the fan back on so it sat on there tightly. The fan blew cold air again because it was able to **** up the cold from the coils again, compared to when it was very loose.

SOURCE: GE side by side refrigerator. Fridge side not cooling - help!

Hi, they have changed lots of parts, were they defected, did they tested parts for faults or they just change parts, because it's available, there's always a reason why a certain part, go bad. so far you change most of parts in ref. check refrigerant (gas, freon) pressure, check compressor, for faulty suction and high side valve, it's possible your compressor loosing efficiency. or say if compressor normally pump 50 psi. now it's pumping 40 psi. is the refrigeration cycle balance ? is there restriction in your ref. system? is compressor running long enough? plug on ref. let it run for 1hr, listen to compressor for any clicking sound, fans and everything else could be working, be compressor not, compressor could be short cycling (not working long enough) also check voltage in receptacle(outlet) with digital multi-tester, get accurate voltage reading, let me know, could also be a faulty circuit breaker in house (building) not your ref. let me know, system could have very slow refrigerant leak, you could have a very small (slow) gas leak, that's why your refrigerator get hot first, then your freezer, there's a condensate line (loop) that passes through, ref body, close to doors to prevent door gasket from freezing, after few years sometimes develope leaks, cause by rusting. it's very possible there could be small leak in your system. let me know what happened.good luck.

This should be a "trouble code". In the owners manual or installation manual you should find a list of trouble codes that help us determine what may be the lead malfunction.

Frigidaire refrigerator wont cool or freeze

Hi Teddy,

It's my understanding that your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# MRS20WRGW2, has power with the lights coming on, it's just not cooling in the freezer or refrigerator portion. Since you are receiving power to the appliance, I would check to see if you can hear the compressor running. If the compressor is not running that might be why your refrigerator is not cooling. Still, I would contact a local authorized technician, for a full diagnosis. This way it can be determined what exactly is the cause of the NO COOL issue.

-Best Regards-

GE TFXB27 FRB BK model refrigerator is not cooling( both FR and FF), What do need to do or check what is wrong with it. GE mechanic came and nothing was done except door adjustment and problem remain same

The first thing I would check is the condenser grill on the bottom of you refrigerator. If that is dirty then your unit can not disapate the heat from the freon.

Make sure you also clean your from and rear air vents also!

If that is the problem, then you first have to determine if the compressor is kicking on or not. A very general rule is to check your lower fan, if that doesn't come on then your start relay or capacitor should be replaced. BUT if a technician was there already, I doubt it that is your problem. I think it is probably just a dirty condenser grill that can be cleaned with a vacuum and an air hose.

PSG25 side by side GE; Frrezer is perfect but refigerator is goig under temperature set. Technician replaced motherboard and sensors with no luck :-(

HI,
As I am a certified GE technician, I need to ask, has or did the person at your home use a computer on your unit? Reason I ask is that we use a computer to see up has failed in the unit determine what has happen. Either way, I have notice a high call for door switch lately, I would open the refer section and test the door switch, it could be turning your compartment light on with the door closed and cause the same problem even melt butter to a liquid. Other possibility could be that the freezer is frosted, this model does not share air between compartments, and if a sensor failed it can cause this. Yes the unit has 4 sensors and they run about 13-20 dollars.
Each compartment has 2 sensors
I would like to help you further, need complete model number from the unit not the book or the door, its inside unit on a sticker.
I hope this helps

My GE upper oven (Model # J KP27G002BG) just stopped working. No power light when turned on. The door light works. The lower oven works. Any ideas?

The lower burner in the top oven does not work, although the broiler does work. The broiler and lower burner in the bottom over both work. Could it be the burner element or would it be the relay board ?

Problem with fresh food side of my refrigerator freezer

The bulbs dim glow is a worry, sounds like not enough voltage is getting there. If you are comfortable with a multimeter, check what the voltage is at the bulb socket. If you have a low voltage issue due to say the transformer not working properly then the fan will also have low voltage (or no voltage). No power, no fan, no cooling. I'd suspect there are voltage issues with that transformer, especially since it's a 240 VAC model. A transformer typically steps down the 240 volts to 120 volts for light bulbs and maybe even the fans (or the whole refer). The repair man may be correct in that the transformer is built in to a circuit board but it COULD be a stand alone transformer.
