SOURCE: my broher 5250DN keeps showing toner needed, but i've replaced it

I just had the same problem. We have several of these in our office, but switching toner cartridges made no difference. Then I saw this site: http://www.oasis-imaging.com/images/pdf/cart_inst/TN580.pdf

I did steps 14-16, which takes 5-10 minutes. I put the toner back in the printer, turned it on, and it works perfectly now. Give that a try!

SOURCE: Toner Problem.

Is this a remanufactured/ compatible unit? I suspect that the toner reset lever on the cartridge has either not been installed or not properly set. return for another one

SOURCE: all new toner but prints everything blue

You should go where you bought the ink and ask for you money back because it was defective, provided that you bought it from a ligitimate source and not fly by night outfit. But I thought that even in large quantities the colors came balanced and you could only buy them in threes.
There is nothing more to be said.... My name is Constantin (arzconst is my nickname with Fixya.com)

"set the toner cartridge correctly"

Possible the chip that reads the toner bottles shorted out.
Try new bottles. If that don't work, the board in the machine that reads them need replacing.

You will need a technician to replace them.

Hello - my Lexmark E120 will print a test page, but won't print anything that I send to it. I just get an error message. There is a green light next to the 'lightbulb' on the printer. The...

The light next to the lightbulb on the printer Toner low/replace PC kit. The printer is ready to receive and process data. In addition, the toner in the toner cartridge is getting low.

Solution:

? Press continue button to clear message and continue processing job.

? Remove the toner cartridge. Gently shake the toner cartridge from side to side and front to back several times to redistribute the toner, and reinsert it. Repeat this procedure multiple times. If the print remains faded, replace the toner cartridge.

How do I reset the unit after changing the drum?

there is a reset counter in the menu options.
at least there is, on my model of Brother, its a 8890DW, very similar to the one pictured.

from the 8890 user manual:

put the new drum unit and toner cartridge assembly in the machine. do not close the front cover.

Press Clear/Back

on the LCD display, it will say "Replace Drum? Yes/no"

to confirm you are installing a new drum, press 1.
when the LCD shows Accepted, close the front cover.

i got this information from the Brother Manual online.
heres the link to all the manuals for your model printer:

http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/as/nz/en/doc/manual_top.html?reg=as&c=nz&lang=en&prod=mfc7420_all

the info was found under Troubleshooting / Replacing Consumables near the end of the document.

i hope this helps!
