Is there 110 volts available? If there is, your frig wants to run on 110 volts. If there is no 110 volts, it will want to run on gas ... is this the situation?

  • ann_maree Sep 29, 2010

Runs on electricity and battery, just won't fire up on gas. I hear the igniter trying to work but nothing happens. and yes, the gas is turned on

Sounds like you did your homework ... this is my last thought ... has this problem gone on long enough that the air has been bled out of the gas line going to the frig and is the little valve on the burner in fact open and is the power to the valve on and connected so gas can get out when the frige wants to ignite? Check your fuses on the control board at the back of the frig.

Hi I have played around with gas fridges for some time and find that in most cases the fridge has not been serviced for some years. It must be pulled out and remove the small shield around the ignition box where the gas pilot flame is and the spark is visable. Its best set up on a bench with lpg hose and reg connected to bottle. Where the pipe supply goes into the ignition box, remove the lph pipe and you will find a small jet in the shape of a bowler hat at the end of the pipe. Remove the jet and clean with air gun, dont blow it away. Blow clean the area and refit the jet the same way it came out. Assemble and test. Two things you must have is a good spark jumping across the gas area and a good mixture of gas and air..there arer no gas adjustments. There is not a lot else to go wrong with them. Worth a try. Graham.

Hello Jan, thank you for your inquiry!
From what you have described your Electrolux cooktop will not stop clicking. This could be an issue with your burner or gas connection. I would suggest having a professional technician out to look over the cooktop as well as disconnecting your gas connection. I hope this information is helpful to you. -Matt

I have an Electrolux gas oven free standing that will not light. The red indicator does not glow when the temperature dial is turned on. It has an oven timer, Is the problem the igniter or is there a fuse...

Hello Ray, thanks for your inquiry!

I see that you are having trouble with your Electrolux gas range not lighting properly for oven functions. This could be an issue with your igniter, burner, or control panel. I would suggest performing a reset on your range and you can do that by disconnecting the power from it for roughly ten minutes. You might want to get assistance from a professional technician for proper diagnosis and repairs will require disassembly of your range. A technician will have the appropriate tools needed to diagnosis the range and pinpoint the issue. This will also help prevent any future issues or unnecessary part purchases. -Matt

My Electrolux Eog6330xn oven cuts out after about an hour and the ignighter then constantly sparks. the oven then has to be turned off to cool down before it will relight. Any advice.

Hello there Gary and welcome to FIXYA

Usually when an oven won't bake properly or stops baking , it's because the bake igniter is weak or burned out. The igniter is a small, round or rectangular device, that's about 1 inch by 4 to 8 inches. It's near the burner itself. The burner is the tube-type device the gas flows through before it's ignited. It has many small holes on the sides to let the gas, when ignited, form a long, low flame. If the igniter is weak, if it glows red but doesn't get hot enough, or if it's burned out, the gas doesn't flow to the burner and the burner won't ignite. If this is the problem, you may need to replace either the igniter or the gas safety valve. Usually the igniter is to blame. I would disconnect the power to the oven then unplug the wiring assy and remove the part then clean all of the terminals really good then reassemble it then try the oven again if it still does not work properly i would go ahead and replace that part ok
Please keep me posted on how this is going i can give you more help but this is the most common problem ok?
Best regards Mike

Have 1986 toyota sunrader camper. Stove lights up

The small jets at the end of the tube are probably plugged, Remove the jets and make sure you can see through them. if not then you can use a small wire to push any foreign object out of the hole.

3 way small frig no power noted

Here's a link to the owners manual with all the instructions for operating the fridge on gas, 120V-AC, or 12V-DC.

The key with this popular fridge is to be sure the control switches are in the correct position for the power source you want to run it on, as it will not work on gas if the electric switch is on, and vice versa. Also note that you can only use one (1) power source at a time to run the fridge.

Hi i have a 3 way electrolux fridge. it cools perfectly well on the electric mains, I've not tried the 12v, but it fails to cool on the gas. The gas ignites but fails to cool the system.

A simple remedy to the fridge working correctly.
I wasnt aware that the mains dial turned fully to an 'OFF' position. Once I had turned the dial until it 'clicked' off, I tried the gas and it lit and cooled perfectly.

Freezer freezes OK, frig compartment doesnt get cold

Does the unit only have one compressor (black round object on back of unit). If yes then sounds as though you have lost some refrigerant (just enough to keep the freezer happy). If no (ie two compressors) check if both compressors hot. If both hot then have major problem if one cold then have a thermostat gone. Personally I think you have lost gas from your description, if so then you are looking at a dead fridge freezer. Hope this is of some help.
