Nextag and eBay are turning up nothing for this model. In comparison to other manufacturer's prices, the quoted price is not "unreasonable." Projection TV repairs are certainly not cheap. Sorry.

It is not ha hard repair. The average shop repair is around 200.00, but the convergence ic's are you r problem. It does require soldering. if you have solder experience the STK ICs are not that hard to replace.

That's a fair price. You can do it yourself, but I've tried showing people how, and some get it most don't. If your handy with repairing things and know how to solder and have a voltmeter, then maybe. You'll need 2 output chips that are original sanyo made chips. Then some solder in fuses and will need to check the resistors around the chips. Then after replacing, reconverge set. I charge the same as this guy. That's average as long as you get good chips put in, not cheap chinnese knock-offs. Make sure they do both as well, not just the bad one.

The problem sounds like it is the convergence output ic's are bad. I would let a repair man fix it.

Convergence issue

YES , find the STK #'s of the chip or chips inside ( big heat sinks)these are the conversion IC's
then there will be some resistors to replace and thats about it except the convergence settings on the tv remote then that will be it
here is an example of the STK

if you need more help just let me know
note: you will need to be able to unsolder them with a solder wick and solder them in without letting them connect to another pin

I have a 52 inch sony rear projection tv, model number kp61s75 with a convergence problem, can i fix it myself or do i need a tv repair man to fix it?

you can go into the menu and manually adjust the convergence it will look better most likely but a television should always be converged by a professional when first bought any way because they can do things we at home cant. i have mine done by a professional once a year and do it myself once a month to maintain the best possible picture. good luck

COLOR SHADING

Sounds like a bad convergence circuit, unless you know how to use a meter and solder well you will need to call a reapir man. This repair should run you anywhere from $300-$500 depending on your area and the tech that comes out. If you were to do it yourself it would run less than $100. Please let me know if you need more info or would like to try it yourself.
