My system worked beautifully last weekend at a party, but now whenever I am trying to even approach the volumes of last weekend, it immediately overloads. What can I do to fix this?

The most common problem found on FixYa for Audio Video Receiver's is:

My receiver say's "Protect" or turns on then off. What's wrong? Seven times out of ten it is a shorted speaker or speaker wire. To determine your exact problem, the first step is to disconnect all speaker wires "at your receiver" Next: Turn the receiver back on. If your receiver still says "protect" or turns off, it needs to be serviced. If your receiver stays on; reconnect your speakers one at a time and power back up after each speaker. You may find that after reconnecting all speaker wires it works! Most commonly the small braids of wire from the + to the - have touched and have caused the problem. In some instances, you noticed the problem only when turning the volume up. either way, make sure the exposed wires to your receiver are no longer than 1/2" long and are completely under the screw down terminal or slide in. When you've found the wire or speaker with the problem, your receiver will go back into "protect" At this point, disconnect the wire from the speaker at the speaker that may be causing the problem then test again.* Note* Make sure speaker wires do Not touch each other as this Will cause a short! If you turn the receiver back on and it stays on, you now know the problem is in your speaker itself. To test your speaker, you will need a multimeter. Set it to ohms resistance and touch the speaker terminals, if there is a short internally the meter will read "1......" If it's an analog meter, it will peg to the right. There's your problem. Now, within any speaker there are quite a few possibilities as to what could be causing the problem. Most common is a blown coil and the speaker needs to be replaced. Some speakers have internal crossovers (usually floor standing speakers) and may have a shorted or burnt board (usually very visible brown burn marks on the board) and can possibly be repaired if your handy with a soldering iron. Now, if you disconnect the speaker wire at the speaker and it still says "protect" Check your wire for the obvious cut or nail thru the wire if possible. If your system has wiring that runs behind walls, you may need to use your meter again. Disconnect the wire at both ends, keep the ends separated, put your meter on ohms resistance and touch probes to the + and - wires at one side. If the meter pegs to the right or reads "1...." the wire is shorted and needs to be replaced or repaired at the short. Hope this helps.

Whenever i apply pressure to my breaks every time im approaching a traffic light or stop sign, i immediately hear a clicking noise. i dont feel anything in the pedal so im confused.

It is most likely the brake pads are worn out,if the clicking is from the front,if it is in the rear pull the wheels and check the brake shoes, there may be some hardwear that has came apart inside the drum.

Whenever i try to open ms word its not opening,, even the ms doc are not executing

Melissa,

think back, did you add a 3rd party program on your machine then around the same time could this have happen.if you did, and you know the day and date you did it, do a system restore for the date prior to the 3rd party install. this will correct the win word problem but the 3rd party program will not be there. If you like to write back and this is the case tell me the name of the 3rd party program and i will find a fix. But if it works well the new program is the one doing it.Sencond line of defense would be to do and office repair, should be on your cd or go right to microsoft's web page (download) search on the page with the words office reapair.

May volume keys on my keyboard are not responding. My speaker/headset volume is inaudible. whenever I press the volume keys on my keyboard, nothing happens. the same as when i click the volume symbol on...

They are actually two separate issues:
I will assume that you have funtioning speakers or headset.
1) first fix your main audio problem by re-installing your sound card driver that would normally come with your PC/Laptop or (external) Sound Card. This should fix the issue with your software volume control
2) second fix your Keyboard volume control: if after fixing your audio system driver previously, this is still not working, then you will need to re-install your Keyboard 'soft' key driver that control the extended function of your specific keyboard: the driver may also be included as part of your PCLaptop but may also have come with a 'third party' non-orininal keyboard.
Hope it helps & good luck!

Whenever i receive phonecalls or make phone calls, i am able to hear the other party, but they are not able to hear me.

Check your mic volume during call, else master reset your phone.
Or you can also upgrage you Phone Firmware.
At last if the problem prevails, you have a faulty Microphone, phone needs to be serviced.

Waqar.

Shortage?

There is a ribbon cable between the laptop & the screen. It sounds like you have a short in that cable. If you're not good with tedius electronic repairs, it would be best to have a shop repair it.

Pc restarts & display "System has recovered from serious error"

If you have *********** board manual still then try and clear the CMOS memory,

turn the computer off
remove the power lead from the back
take the side off
remove the cmos battery
move the cmos jumper from pins 1 and 2 to pin 2 and 3 and the back to pins 1 and 2
replace the battery
put the side on
replug in the power lead
boot the computer

if that doesn't work then try to fix the bios.
here are instructions for that:

Power cuts out

This problem happend to my sony system about a year ago. It was the amp that blew in mine because of the fan inside the system was not coming on when it should of. I found that when i had put my PC in the AUX jacks it blew the fan on me, so every time the volume got to 15 the system would just shut down and not come back on at all, or it would need time to cool down before it would start up again. Take it to a shop and get it looked at by someone that knows what there doing. Please dont try and do this yourself.
