My display has lines where a picture should be. The display has the color lines of whatever the image is that it is looking at. I can't read the menu screen or anything. It was not dropped it worked fine and then it didn't.

Hi,

This is highly suggestive of faulty CCD sensor.Repair of CCD is not a DIY ( do it yourself ). You need to send the camera to Nikon. The cost of repair would be around $100 + shipping ( if any ) + taxes. Repair does not worth taking into consideration the cost of the product. However, as this is a common problem with most of the manufacturers, there were few recalls and service advisories for most of their models facing CCD sensor challenge.

Read an old article :-

http://www.imaging-resource.com/badccds.html

If it is not under recall, try to get some good replacement or repair at low cost unless invest in new camera.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I have no problem with my C893 monitor. I would like the best settings for it.

The manual for this monitor lists its native resolution as 1280X1024. At resolutions below this, display quality may suffer because the image may not line up with the pixels of the display. This resolution may not be supported by the integrated video in many computers.

The other settings (color temperature, brightness, etc.) are based on your personal preference. Whatever looks good to you is the "best".

Color ghosting or shadows

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

You can see some more examples and find a fix herebb0cf99.png http://www.fixya.com/support/r2861467-solution_video_looking_whiteish_dull

Horizontal lines on display and printed image

I suspect your camera has a defective CCD which is quite common for the A75.   Canon is aware of the problem and has issued a recall for affected cameras.  I have had mine repaired under this recall.  Here is a link with some pictures which show what the problem looks like.

I hope this helps

Is my Camera broken?????

Try a transfer to a computer or whatever you usually do with the media to determine if the photos themselves are affected or if it is just the camera display. If the photos look ok then we will know that it is the display and you could just live with it. I know of no way to repair the display cheaper than replacing the camera in most cases. If the photos are off in color it may be the settings in tha camera. Try to return to default settings (usually an option) or fiddling with them (usually set at zero or the center of a slide)

My pictures display poor image quality on the screen or when you print them out.

PhotoPC 800 captures images in 24-bit color (16.7 million colors). Your pictures will not display maximum image quality if your monitor or computer's video controller doesn't support this color depth. You may need to upgrade your system to achieve the best possible image quality. If your pictures look better on the screen than when you print them out, you may need to upgrade your printer. An EPSON Stylus ink jet printer, for example, provides excellent image quality. If you used drag and drop to insert your pictures, they may appear grainy. Try importing them into your documents instead.
