My Machine leakes water

I love this coffee machine. All in all it works great! We clean it now and then and sometimes leave it on all day but it keeps giving us great coffee. The problem however is lately we have been placing a toewl in front of the machine because water seems to be leaking out of it somewhere. to me it seems somehow everything left over may not be making it to the tray orm it could be something else not sure. My wife is starting to et on my case about this so I am trying to get this fixed but cant figure out what i should do. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. iT APPEARS TO BE SAT THE SWIVAL BASE. SOMETIMES AFTER REFILLING THE WATER IF I DO NOT MOVE THE MACHINE IT IS FINE.

I had the same problem with this fabulous machine.

I opened up the top, and I discovered that the problem was a small crack in the piece that transfers water too and from the heating chamber and the pump. This small junction piece is between the pump and the chamber and it also carries water back to the reservoir. It developed a small crack which resulted in water not reaching the chamber and flooding the machine. I am presently working to patch the crack and i'd be grateful for any suggestions. I have attached pictures below.Sorry for the low picture quality.

There is a rubber valve (usually spring loaded ) which is resident behind the shower screen. This may be old, or become hard and will need replacement. You will have to undo the shower screen to get to this valve. However, if your machine is under warranty, I would advise against this as it would void the warranty. Best call the manufacturer/ point of purchase in this case.

Hope that helps..

Found this solution elsewhere. Have a go at it first, as it is the easier to do..
"there is a drain located in the back of the machine that drains into
the drain tray. If this drain is clogged (like mine) when ever you
brew, the small excess water, instead of draining as it should into the
tray, drains into a very small reservoir that holds the slight excess
of water that occurs with every cup. When the reservoir finally fills
up, it pours over the lip and into the machine and all over the place
missing the drain tray. It is messy.

The solution is to remove the brew group, look into the back where the
brew group inlet nozzle fits, and you will see the discharge nozzle
leading down from the top left and into a reservoir. You cannot see the
drain because it is behind the axle that drives the group, but you can
feel it if you stick your finger in and down to the right. You can see
its discharge port, down at the drain tray. Clean it, until you can run
clear water into it and see it drain out the bottom drain port into the
drain tray, which you should reinsert before you pour water."

    Hope that helps..

Keep cleaning...make sure that run off spout the leads to the tray is 100% clear. Run water through it (with a sponge for example) to make sure you get all the sludge out. Careful about what sort of coffee you use. I have had bad luck with Illy coffee unfortunately.

Its probably a loose hose or a failed O ring. You can take it apart and probably find the problem and fix it if you are handy. As it is don't use it. It's dangerous. You cold get a shock. Unplug it and either repair it or take it in to someone who handles Saeco. Their website lists repair facilities.

My cuisenart 12 cup thermal coffee maker makes bad coffee. I can't return it as it was a fathers day gift. coffee always tastes bitter and burnt. at work we use the same coffee in a 20 dollar sunbeam...

The quality of the water is responsible for the flavor of the coffee. If you have had this coffee maker for a while it is probably coated with lime. Run a couple of cups of vinegar through it followed by a couple of pots of clear water. That will clean up your machine.

Once it is clean, try making a pot with bottled water, or water that you run through a water filtering pitcher.
You will be amazed at the differenct.

remove the brew unit and look at the white valve behind it, below that valve there is a small chamber which is probably filled with coffee grounds and water, clean chamber and below chamber is a small discharge hole that leads into the draintray, make sure it is clear.

Standby light is flashing

I had the same problem with my machine and managed to get it working again in a few easy steps. This machine is great but it can be VERY tempermental so here are a few tips:
1.The barcode reader MUST be clean or it will not read what the disc is (It is the little glass screen where you place the disk.) If it is not clean the lights will all flash.
2. The little floaty thing in the water container has to be floating in order to keep the machine running- if it won't float, shake it well to dislodge the air pocket that might be jambing it.
3. If the red stanby light won't go away, it is because the disc you are using is either damaged or leaking and it WON'T go away until you replace the disc...(you might have to do it more then once) if that doesn't work- try hitting the reset button on the back of the machine (the little black switch that has a (- and o) as well as unplugging and plugging the machine back in. Lastly, what worked for me was inserting a new disk and only partially clicking in the disk so the 'heating' light came on- leave it like that for about 10 seconds and then very slowly close the disc completely. Hope this helped!

Brewed coffee will not come out

Two things you point out. One is water tank leaking- where is it leaking? Is it cracked?
The other problem you point out is that coffee is not coming out but do get water- which could be that the grinder needs to be cleaned (internally) by an authorized SAECO Service Center .
