Oven gives code E6 F2 on panel

Our electric double oven, which is 4 yrs old (model #GBD277PD509) stopped working last Saturday (it was not being used when it went down) and, every 6-8 hours or so, displays a code of E6 F2. (If the code isn't displayed, the panel is blank.) Do you have any ideas of what has happened and how do we fix it? John - May 24, 2008
I too have the same problem (Fault Code F2 - Error Code E6) with an oven that is approximately 5 years old (Model No. GBD277PDB6). It was not in use when the code was displayed in fact it has hardl'y been used since it was installed (Maybe 20-30 times) and has never had its "Self Cleaning Cycle" run. This is the second problem I have experienced with this unit. The first time, approximately 2 years ago, the display would go blank periodically. I arranged a service call and the technician did not seem to have an answer other than the connections between the keypad and ribbon connector might be loose. He fiddled around with them and fixed the problem. This time, although the symptom was different, I decided to try the same remedy. I dis-assembled the oven front (As I had seen the technician do previously) and applied finger pressure to the connectors to seat the contacts. This seems to have worked (2 hours so far). However, one question I am left with is the reference to a "CANCEL" button on Page 2 of the Tech Sheet I found inside the control plenum behind the keypad. In the "Recommended Repair Procedure" for F2-E6 it states:

  1. Check keypad connector for firm connection
  2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 sec., replace keypad.
  3. Replace Control.
I could not find a CANCEL button. It is not on the outer surface of the keypad or on the PC card on the inside as far as I could determine. Also I could not locate it on the "Wire Harness Schematic" or "Oven Strip Circuits" that are shown on the service document mentioned previously.

I would appreciate any help that could be given regarding this issue.

This button would only be on the outer control panel. Whatever button you press to stop the timer would be considered the cancel. I am a little confused, were you able to stop this error now or is it still coming up with this error? If I may suggest, perhaps you may want to rewire the loose connections. Please let me know what other questions you may have and what situation with this problem is and I would be more than happy to help you with anything else you may need.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

F2-E6 error code indicates an open/shorted oven temperature sensor and to solve this problem the temp.sensor needs replacement. If you want to be sure then before replacing the sensor you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more then 1120 ohms then it needs replacement however, if the reading is between 1080-1120 ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. However, after reading your problem it seems that the sensor is causing this and replacing it is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

WHIRLPOOL GOLD DOUBLE OVEN BEEPING WILL GO BLANK THEN WILL SHOW E6 F2 TROUBLE CODE

Hi dear. Please do the following if you know what you are doing.According to your explanation,F2E6 code on whirlpool oven related with following: F2 - E6
Cancel key drive line open
1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board).
2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).

I hope that solves your issue.Thanks.

I have a whirlpool oven rbs305 and the pannel shuts down and a code comes up E6 and F2 What can be done Thanks

F2 and e6 in combination indicate a cancel key open condition. What this means in layman's terms is that the key-panel Has a problem. If it was just recently cleaned with a wet cleaner, you can try drying the keypad off or even CAREFULLY warming it up with a hair dryer. Don't get it too hot so that you melt anything.
If this does not work, you will need to replace the key panel on the oven.
You can do this repair yourself and should you decide to, please just comment back with the full model number off the tag on the oven and I will give you step by step instructions on how to do it.
Good luck!!

Oven gives code E6 F2 on panel

The problem in our oven has cleared by itself. I did see the E6 F2 error message but for now, it's working fine. Considering the customer service was only able to help to the extent of reading the error code sheet the same as I was (the sheet is behind the touch pad) and seeing how limited the solutions were, we don't think we'll be buying another Whirlpool. I was pretty insulted when the girl a customer quality called to offer me part #8300453 at half cost of $164 providing I have a service guy look at the stove and call in the part. On top of that, the warrenty is 90 days and the part is on back order. Why would the part be on back order? A) they either did not make an ample supply for inventory, B) there are many ovens needing this part. For an oven to require parts after 2.5 yrs of service and 2 self cleanings tells me someone was sleeping with a cigar in their mouth in Quality Control. Or, learning what that meant.

Enjoy the day!
