Question about Maytag Dishwashers

1 Answer

Hello, I have a Maytag Stainless Steel MDBH975AWS dish washer. After water fill, it is very noisy almost like a grinding sound. Is there a common problem? Is there an exploded parts view somewhere so I can disassemble the grinder portion to see if there is a loose part?

Impeller is jammed onto shaft ,remove motor with 1 bolt ,remove impeller by putting a plastic pen in bottom of motor turn impeller counterclockwise inspect for clearance or obstruction.either replace impeller or do like I did and put a spacer, poor design on keeper circlip caused my problem.I got my spacer from a scooter wheel between the bearings & cut off enough plastic on the impeller shaft for clearance, always good to have a spare scooter wheel laying around!!!!!!

Dishwasher MDB6769AWS1 has started making noise just after it fills and starts to wash

There are several moving parts: The motor, pump, valves and actuators, and the rotating sprayers. Is your door seal still okay? If it's not sealing at the top it could sound louder yet not leak water. Or the motor and/or pump shafts are wearing out and becoming noisy. Keep an eye open for leaks, as this is what will happen if the pump becomes defective.

We just bought a house with this dishwasher in it. It was not used for a year. When we have used it, it leaves a white powder all over the dishes and it doesn't clean the dishes. Do you have any...

There are several possibilities..

1. rinse aid reservoir is empty
2. water is hard and the setting for water softener needs to be readjusted
3. there is no salt in the hard water reservoir
4. incoming hot water temperature is not adequate

Refer to user manual at this site if you do not have one.

Hope this will help with solving the problem.

It is just not cleaning the dishes. Runs - OK

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

My Maytag dishwasher (MDB955AWS) will not drain ans is not cleaning the dishes properly.

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump.

The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Aluminum pans come out stained with a dark residue.

The aluminium reacts with the solution being used. Change the detergent making sure it can be used with aluminium.

Hello

I have used Vinegar myself.
just placed a large cup full in the top rack and ran it through with no dishes in the dish washer.
and once the dishwasher was clean we used a small amount of vinegar to clean the stainless steel bowls and silverware and glass.

I have also used this product:

and it also worked..... although there are restrictions ( no stainless steel dishwasher tubs ).

I found this site for you:

I found this product for you as a bonus although I have no personal experience with it

No water spraying in washer, and no error code

Either:

1. not enough water gets into the dishwasher. open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.

Good luck,
