Welcome to FixYa.

Knowing what you`ve provided "Makes screaming as washer is being filled"...
the issue is likely with the inlet/water valve being noisy. To remedy this, first check your water pressure is adequate or the supply line valve is completely "open".
If you can rule out the issue of water supply pressure being the culprit, you will need to replace the valve, not surprising for Bosch unfortunately.

As long as your model number is indeed SHU66 series, this info below will be accurate.

I say not surprising because this part has been an issue for the B/S/H/ built machines in the past and as a result the original part number 189553 now substitutes to 425458. It usually retails for about $20 - $30USD at places such as "" "" to name a couple.

**Before attempting to repair the unit please turn off the power and the water supply to the first**

If you remove the lower kick plate/toe panel, you will see the inlet valve to your left...

Replacing it is pretty straight forward. Here`s how...

1) undo the water line.

2) the two #20 torx screws fastening it iMakes screaming as washer is being filled. - 156e176.jpg>

3) the feed tube to the machine aMakes screaming as washer is being filled. - 5937279.jpgof the valve and swap it with the new one.

Once the new one is in you should be good to go.

Let me know if you need any further assistance, otherwise good luck.

Inlet water value is failing, try on different setting(hot, cold, warm). If the noise stops replace water value.

The fill switch may have failed or the tube to it broke. Anyway, the machine probably is too full of water for it to start to spin out, so it slips on the belt and that makes noise.
The machine is going to be very heavy if it is overfull, but try to let some water out. Maybe you can just lower the drain hose way down into a bucket and get some water out of it. Once it's low enough, it may be able to pump out the rest. Then you can find out about the fill switch.
If it's not overfull, then some hose came loose or broke.

Washer makes awful screaming sound in spin cycle. Is this transmission issue? Repairman seems to think so and fix is so expensive it's almost not worth it, which means buying a new machine.

if its a front load then its the drum bearings that are out of it and you need a new lip seal and bearings, the parts are not expensive but it takes time to dismantle the machine to install these parts

My dryer

I have a WTL5400 screaming at me, so my Husband has taken the side and back panels off to investigate, and the noise was made by the air outlet plastic fan which spins when the tumble dryer is turning, this plastic fan thing was wibbly wobbly and the nut wouldn't tighten up. He has put in a couple of different size washers and tighten up the nut and hey presto no noise.
