Hello Helen,

Welcome to FixYa.

To answer your question, "i am trying to open the drain plug to check for buttons etc but cant get it to unlock. is there a trick to it? No not really. Just unscrew it counter clockwise,

The issue with these Asko pump insets/filters....

i have an Asko 10504 - 92835c2.jpg

they can become clogged with items such as coins, hair-pins etc. that can actually damage the part.

Unfortunately once they are clogged to a degree removing the filter by normal means becomes difficult or impossible without breaking it.

The image I attached above is an example of a pump I had to remove and disassemble to clean it out so the filter could be removed/unscrewed, hence the need for the "worm-gear" clamps had to be used to replace the original "one-time" clamps. That though involves removing the access panel...

plus the tub bellows and drain hoses etc. pretty involved.

If you indeed break this part during your attempts to remove it, a replacement is available, Asko original part # 88 010 69 and available at on-line retailer "" for about $25-$30USD.

Let me know how you make out or if you require further assistance.

Thank you for choosing FixYa and good luck.

We have an asko 10504 front loader washing machine. It is making a huge noise with whistling sound (like a combination of a jet engine, diesel bus and heavy freight train). It is not spinning out...

Welcome to FixYa.

Have you checked the pump to insure the filter isn't clogged or debris causing the noise ? Or do you know where it is and how to check it ?
In the event the washer can't drain sufficiently it will not spin properly either. This is by design, but it's easy to confirm or dismiss.

Check as follows...
**Unplug the unit from the dryer or the wall which ever scenario applies to your set-up, or turn off the breaker at the home service first**
Remove the lower panel with two screws and then you'll see the pump filter/insert as shown here...

Once here, twist the filter out ( make sure you've got some towels, a wet/dry shop-vac or a drain in the floor close by as there WILL be water present ) and check the filter, pump, and hoses to the pump, drain etc. thoroughly for debris.

The filter should look like this...

Let me know if any of this isn't clear and I'll attempt to help you move forward. Once you've cleared the pump filter or ruled out it was indeed blocked or not, you can now try a short spin/drain cycle to listen for whether the noise is still present.

Let me know how you make out. Thank you for choosing FixYa and good luck. Please take a moment to rate the info provided for you here today at FixYa.

My asko regardless of selected wash program stops after the main wash, it will drain the water, but then not start the rinse cycles. The washing machine will allow you to open the door. I thought it was...

When your rinse cycle does not work it is your outlet filter that is clogged. If this is a front loader the small door is in the bottom front side of machine. Be prepared for some water to come out when u open the door. Unscrew and clean out filter and refit.

Also please note
with the Asko there are several possible things that can interupt the cycle either during wash or drain/spin. Have you checked the pump insert/button trap for debris or obstruction of any kind ? ( below main door to the left ) Are you using "he" ( lo-sudsing ) detergent ? Does the machine provide any error code, i.e. If it's a mechanical timer model does it stop at "C" or "S" or if electronic a symbol in the display ? Will it complete a cycle without any items in the basket ( empty ) ? Will the unit rotate in both directions and will it spin if you try both parts of that specific cycle ? This will help determine if the problem is with the drive motor brushes.

Moldy smell from front-loader Asko washer.

First check to make sure that the machine is draining properly and that the pump filter is clear of any debris.

On a frontloader a common place for mold to build up is the rubber seal around the door. Clean this out as well as you can with ordinary kitchen cleaner then place a heaped cup of baking soda directly into the drum and run an empty hot/boil wash on a full cycle.

Baking soda has a cleaning and neutralising effect and will help remove any build up of mold or gunge within the machine. You may need to run two of these washes before you see a solid result.

Thereafter I recommend you run a monthly 'maintenance wash' with the baking soda to prevent the problem arising again.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa

Motor not running in Asko 10504 washing machine

The motor might have burned out. Another possibility would be a partially fried control board.

Asko 10505 - wash finished, door won't open

it is most likely your machine may have a draining problem. if it cant drain the water out the door wont open. if you open the small door at the front bottom of the machine you will find the little black drain hose. unplug the hose off the door and drain machine. when the machine is empty try powering on and opening the door. if still no luck you will see (in the same location) a red pull ring. undo the screw holding the ring in position and gently pull until the door releases. it would be worth undoing the button trap lid to access the pump and check for any blockages (most common coins **** pins etc) let me know how you get on.

Asko front load washing machine

When u use front loaders you normally don't need a soak. And i don't think you need bleach. Use front loading powders for the machine. The automatic machine is supposed to work for you. The water empties out, so you can open the door.

Rate me pl if helped..............
