Question about Computers & Internet

I want to take a video dvd from a hand held cam corder and be able to play the video thru my computer and project it to a large screen. I also would like to stop, pause, slow motion, etc. the video and be able to use a paint program of sort to draw over the video. Is this possible?

This could only be possible if your computer already have the video and audio "input" jack. For most of the computer only have the video and audio "output" jack. If you don't have that, I may suggest for you to upgrade your sound card hardware, that have the video and audio output jacks, just for you to do this.

I have a VPW8OU vIDEO CAM CORDER. i AM WONDERING if I can play the tape onto my pc somehow

Tape video recorders are unfortunately old technology. Video sent to a tape is not a fully digital file in the sense that it is not read by computers and has to be captured when you play it back into the computer and turned into a video file. Unless you are savvy with computer connections and software requirements and are able to connect up the camcorder so that it is recognised by the computer AND capture software, the easiest way might be to get someone to put the tapes down onto a dvd for you. Many retailers advertise this service.

Hi.. I have a jvc 32 X cam corder that i want to down load my videos onto my computer and am not sure how..

Two things here. Is your cam corder a digital one? If so there should be a connector on it for either firewire or USB, and if not, you will need some kind of video capture device if your cam corder has outputs on it. If not, you will need a player (vhs-c or 8mm or whatever your format) that can send out to the computer. Once this connectivity is done, you need video capture software that will "encode" the video files that will be produced. If your cam corder is already data (hard drive onboard or SCD card recording, you will only have to "demux" the format you have into the format that you are seeking (ie.. MPG to AVI or so on).
I hope that helps you out.. let me know if you need more clarification. It also might help if you give the media you have (VHS-c etc.) and the available outputs that you see on your cam corder. Thanks!

Lost instructions, cannot create DVD from cam-corder recording

Thanks, I already solved the problem. There was no "Setup" button (on the remote, anyway) to follow the instructions given -- in the manual, which I downloaded!.

Instead, I remembered that "Input" often allows you to select a source for something, so when I chose THAT button, I was able to choose the port that had my cam-corder.

Then I simply pressed record on the DVD player while Play on the C-C.

Cant Play Mini DVD in my PC

The cam corder should come with CD's for installing. For example: My Mini DVDS would do the same thing. I installed the cds with the camcorder and theres a tool on there that lets me import the media from the Mini DVD.

I hook my cam corder up to the my tv it will play but no sound

You are likely using the S-Video cable (multi-pin cable that connects to the front of the camera below the spotlight). This cable carries video but not audio. To get audio, use the multi RCA to 1/8" adapter (has red, yellow, and white cables and plugs into the side of the camera)
