Ok here's what I did; 1) took out all the ink cartridges. 2) Removed the print head completely. 3) Wiped off the computer chip on the back of the head and wiped off the ink from the print head itself, also wiping off the the metal prongs, don't be afraid to rub hard if it is already broken you can't do anymore damage. 4) unplugged the printers for a hour, 5) plugged in the printer, 6) reinserted the cleaned print head and and all the Canon Ink. 7.) aligned the print head, 8) calibrated the printing.

If the cartridge you bought is not compatible with that prescribed by the printer, the interconnecting ends may not match. You, therefore, need to change all wrong cartridges.

The display on my printer has stopped working, can I still change an ink cartridge without it?

You should be able to change cartridges. It may be hard to determine what is wrong with the display but look for loose connectors on the back of the display, the controller board, etc.

if you have the old cartridge still check the connection to see if it is the same as you had and check to see if you have an original or compatible cartridge as some wont be recognised.if there is an electrical connection board in it see if you can change it onto the new one

LCD panel says wrong cartridge and will not let operate at all.

try to check the cartridges if you have put it on the right slot

if still appears the same clean the golden part of the cartridges ( it is the contact point of the cartridge circuit)

hope this would work

I changed ink my printer showing wrong cartridge

Make sure you are using factory new Canon ink cartridges.

If you purchased re-filled cartridges or third party cartridges that is most likely your problem.

Canon MP F50 "wrong cartridge" error

remove all cartridges leaving printhead intact.
close cover, turn off
turn on, let power up, error message should be gone.
open cover, reinstall cartridges
if you cleaned your print head like I did you'll probly
eventually end up getting a new one anyway, due to the color variations
but I can at least print text.

Wrong cartridge?

Doubled check the cartridge numbers and that they match what is on the printer. If no match get correct ones.

Display Says Wrong Cartridge

I went to the Canon website http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=9035 and typed "Wrong Cartridge" in the search portion for the MP730. It listed detailed instructions to remove all ink cartridges, raise the lever to the right on the carrier, and then remove / reseat the "carrier". After that I replaced all cartridges and printed the alignment page. All is working, now.
