Question about Samsung SCH-u740 Cellular Phone

Searching SVC and no CDMA

I purchased a phone from a friend in hopes of being able to fix it. When the battery is in, the phone powers on fine, but I get a "Searching SVC" message and when I try to dial *2767*3855# I get a "CDMA Service Not Available" I can dial *228, but it just hangs at the dialing screen, never connecting the call. So I am thinking maybe water damage? So I took the battery off and charged it, but it gets to the Vcast loading bar, it loads up and then restarts. It just keeps doing that until I put the battery in, which it then turns on like normal. Please help! If there is anything to do :)

    I woke up this morning with the Searching SVC banner and CDMA Service not available messages. This phone is less than two weeks old and has had no water damage or fall damage. I have no idea what caused this.

I've had 2 of these phones do the same thing. Neither had water damage. I will be taking the unit in for replacement once again.

My phone says searching for svc how do i get it?

Hi,

That just means you have no reception. Have a look at:
Menu -> settings -> Phone -> Network

Check that network selection is on automatic. If you still don't have any reception you might want to consider changing provider.

Best regards,

If the phone is having this problem you can stop it by removing the battery and sim the replacing them in the phone one minute later. If you already tried this and it didn't work apply for a samsung fix grant and let them solve the problem, or you may be able to get a better newer phone
