Question about Cub Cadet 46" Lawnmower Deck Drive Belt 754 04153

1 Answer

I have a cub cadet model 1420 with hydrostatic drive that will not go forward or reverse. The drive belt is moving and the hydrostatic unit was replaced 3 years ago. I still have to engage the lever to push the mower. I had just mowed my yard and after washing the mower I started it up and moved 5 feet and stopped. Motor kept running but would not go either way.

I had exmark hydros i was told to never wash them, the water does more damage than good. have you checked or changed your hydostatic oil and filter latley? if you have, when doing that you have to be very careful not to get any foriegn objects in the oil resevoir, dirt, grass clipings, anything will ruin the hydro pump.

I have cub cadet that will not move forward or reverse it has a dive shift not a belt

Jack the machine up and with it in gear try turning the drive wheels by hand. DO NOT START ENGINE. If they turn by hand with no force being used then I suspect you have broken the shear pin in the drive wheels or in the drive shaft.

Why is my Series 1000 LT1024 Hydrostatic Drive Cub Cadet not pulling?

In most cases the hydrostatic drives are not made by the company tractor or lawnmower.
This is in the owners manual.

Hydrostatic Transmission
The hydrostatic transmission is sealed at the factory
and is maintenance free. The fluid level cannot be
checked nor can the oil be changed. Always keep the
area around the transmission cooling fan free of grass
and debris at all times

Depress drive pedal forward or reverse, tractor will not move

Assume it's a hydrostatic transmission - most probably the drive belt has come off or broken. Be sure to replace it with a Kevlar belt as changing the belt isn't easy and you don't want to have to repeat the process too soon.

Riding mower no longer moves.

If this is a hydrostatic transmission, one of 3 things:
1. Drive belt off pulleys (recommend replace belt if so)
2. Belt broken (obviously, replace)
3. Hydrostatic transmission failed (least likely, but this is an expensive repair shop issue if so)

This happened to my GT1554 two weeks ago - fortunately, replacing the belt resolve the problem.

Cub Cadet engine runs but, also will not go in forward or reverse

you didnt say what model this is, but i assume its hydrostatic because it has a drive shaft. is the hydrostatic unit filled with oil¿ if its ok, check the linkage from the pedal to the rearend (hydrostatic drive) make sure its not broken or loose.. if that l@@ks ok, check both ends of the drive shaft making sure the couplers are not broke and the drive shaft is ok. hope this helps.
