Question about Canon Digital Cameras
Purchased new Canon PowerShot S230 Digital elph 2003. Used once. Misplaced it in 8' x 8' storage unit, cool, dry, dark location. In original box. Discovered it last week. Battery is not holding charge. Screen has colored lines running across screen. What would be the problem? Deterioration? I would not expect this. What is problem. CAN CAMERA BE RE-BORN?? Tsk, tsk, a nice camera like the S230, and you've only used it once. The battery should be dead by now but can easily and cheaply be replaced from Amazon. And yes, your camera will soon be reborn, only this time use it and enjoy it.
The problem you describe sounds like a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status, even after all these years. Please check the following two links for more info:
