Question about LG Dryers

1 Answer

When I turn on the power and set the dial and start the cycle it turns on for about one second and then shuts off. We just moved in to our home and the dryer came with the house. I currently can't locate the manual for it. I unplugged the dryer and plugged it back in, but it will not start. Help! I have wet clothes in it.

It sounds like you have a power issue. Run an extension cord to another outlet and see if that resolves the issue. If it does, you will need to have an electrician repair the plug outlet. If not, then you will need to have a qualified LG tech diagnose your problem.
Good luck.

Why does my top load whirpool washer restart on its own after it finishes the last rinse and spin cycle. It does this on all settings, delicate, normal or heavy.

  1. Turn the washer off.
  2. Set the mode selector dial to NORMAL.
  3. Turn the dial counter clockwise ONE click (LEFT), clockwise THREE clicks (RIGHT), counter clockwise ONE click (LEFT) then clockwise ONE click (RIGHT).
  4. Now press the start button.
  5. All the cycle indicating lights should be illuminated.
  6. Press the Start Stop button once.
  7. Rotate the dial until Rinse, Wash, and Stop light illuminate.
  8. Turn the washer off and unplug it for 10 seconds.
  9. Finally, turn on the washer and it should now be reset.
  10. Run a test load empty to be sure the reset worked. If not perform the reset procedure one more time.

AMD 121 won't shut off, or change cycles. Continuously "hums".

Did you try just unplugging from the wall outlet, and let sit for 15 seconds and plugging back in. Sort of like a re-boot on the computer? Just a suggestion.

Try to press the start/stop button for at least 3 seconds. This should reset the started cycle, and you can make a new choice. If this dont help, it could be a faulty control board

Ice maker not dropping ice, the switch is on, and the ice has been in the tray for quite some time now

POWER ON DIAGNOSTICS TEST MODE When the ice maker is first connected to power and the thermistor temperature is 50°F or more, the control will initiate a “Power On” test before entering the freeze cycle. The test will consist of the following sequence:
1)Turn on the motor until it reaches home position
2)Turn on the water valve for 1/2 second
3)Turn on the heater for 1/2 second
4)Verify that the feeler arm was in the “in” and then the “out” position.
5)Verify that the motor was not in the home position and then in the home position.
6)Verify that the motor does not remain on after being turned off.
7)Proceed to the freeze cycle. SERVICE DIAGNOSTICS TEST MODE During the first 15 seconds that power is first applied to the ice maker, the Service Diagnostics Test mode may be entered. The Service Mode is entered by pushing the feeler arm in and out three times within 15 seconds. (only three times). There will be only one fill cycle (5.1 second) in the service diagnostics mode without the waiting period for the mold to “pre-chill”. If the ice maker has already started a harvest cycle and the arm is moving, it may be impossible to start the service mode. (since the NORMAL cycle is already started). While in the “Power On Diagnostics” test mode, the “Service Diagnostic” test mode can be initiated and will override the “Power On Diagnostics” test mode. This ice maker has no replacement parts available and is not intended to be repaired.

Heater stops.fan still runs.

Most furnaces are equiped with a two speed blower. Hi speed is controlled by a relay sytem initiated by the thermostat. short of a stuck relay, hi speed should not remain on unless your thermostat "fan swith" has been moved from "auto" to "on", if this is the case turn the switch to "auto"

Low speed is controlled solely by the furnace itself. Depending on the age and brand of the furnace it is either brought on by time or temperature.

From your description of "tapping the relay of the limit switch" I assume you have an older furnace with a combination fan/limit control. The most common of these were a grey box with a removeable rectangular lid. In some cases there was a (commonly white) switch poking through this cover which you could manually turn low speed on if you pushed it in, make sure it is pulled out.
Otherwise the switch is refered to as a bi-metal limit. When heated the two dis-similar metals (coiled together) expand and contract at different rates. When the furnace cycles on, the metals heat and, due to design, twist a dial, which you should be able to see under the rectangular lid. The dial should have three pin settings for the purpose of switching. the lowest setting, usually around 105, is the fan OFF setting. The second, usually aroun 135, is the fan ON setting. The highest should be fixed around 250 it is the high limit and should not be part of your problem.
....After your thermostat has been satisfied and the flame shuts down...you can physically watch that dial move clockwise and hopefully reach the setting of around 105, unlesss that setting is set below the temperature of the room the furnace is in (try setting this setting higher to see if it helps).
(make and age of furnace helps a lot with trying to trouble shoot, also is it a mobile home unit?)

f22 is a door lock error try this hit cancel turn your dial to another setting, hit start and once it starts hit cancel again and it should unlock. thats what i did anyway.
If you're getting an F22 error, you will want to check anything to do with the door latch switch.

sounds like it could be the transmission. Does the tub turn when you turn the pulley in either direction with your hand? And take the belt off see if the motor turns when you close the lid and turn it on without the belt??
