We have a timer in our switch panel and lost the instructions how to set it. It has a knob with the time on it (day and night). You can push it to turn it on. How do we set it to come on automatically?

You can see several types of timers here to identify your make and model

If timer does not rotate around on its own, then it might not be working as a timer any more, but the manual override still works as on-off button.

Usually dial timers have tiny pins that move up and down. Look closely at the dial, and then experiment by pushing all the pins one direction.

Below the dial on newer timers is a selector button. On-Auto-Off or On-Off-Timer. To operate timer, set selector to Auto or Timer.

I bought the heavy duty appliance timer SA110, 15 amps for my hotwater solar heater. I followed the instuctions and the timer never worked. I bought this timer for the pump the pumps the water from the...

It sounds like you have the timer set correctly.
Manual says to set Master switch to ON position to make settings
Timer has lifetime warranty

Open following link to identify timer and download manual:

This timer is rated 120Volt 1800W incandescent 1/2 HP
If your pump rating plate shows excess of 1/2 HP, then this timer is not heavy enough.
Timer comes with lifetime warranty against workmanship, which is far superior than any other timer I've seen on the market, and I test and research timers each day.

Manual says to set Master switch to ON position to make settings.
After settings are made, manual says to move Master switch to Timer for timed functions, as you have done

Next thing to look for: if timer dial rotates as time passes, and keeps correct time.

The timer dial is a clock. The segments located around dial are pushed down or pushed up to control on-off operation.
As the dial rotates, the segments push a switch that turns Load on-off.
If you want timer ON for 2 hours, then you push down 8 consecutive segments.
If you want timer ON for 8 hours, then you push down 32 consecutive segments.

Plug ordinary lamp into timer, and turn lamp ON, and then manually rotate timer dial to see if lamp turns on-off. This will give you a baseline for timer operation, and then you can assess if the motor has suddenly malfunctioned, or breaker is tripped, etc.

Hi. your problem is actually a rather complicated one.

Timer and selector switches The timer switch is usually the largest dial on the main control panel. It can be either a mechanical device much like a simple clock, or completely electronic with just a digital readout.

The timer runs the washing machine in a pre-determined pattern. It provides the electricity to all of the washing machine components at the correct time and for the correct length of time.

The Start switch is usually part of the timer knob. When you set the timer to the proper cycle, you either pull or push the timer knob to start the cycle.

The selector switches or knobs vary from machine to machine. Most washing machines have one or several switches or knobs on the control panel besides the Timer/Start switch. These let you adjust certain settings; for example, the water temperature, spin speed, timer cycle, and so on. Normally, the washing machine completes the cycle selected on the timer, regardless of how you set these switches and knobs.

Can't figure out how to set Intermatic timer 111c up to nightlight

Hello. I can help you with this times.

Step one - insert the pins at the times you want the night light to come on and go off. The green pins will turn on the night light and the red pins will turn it off. If you just want one on time and one off time just use one pin of each color.

After you have the pins inserted, set the correct time on the timer and plug it into an outlet that is always on [not one that is controlled by a wall switch].

The override switch will turn the device off if it is on, but just one time. As the next time it turns on it will once again be controlled by the times.

If ou want the night light to come on and off in the evening and again in the morninng, use two green pins and two red pins. Push in a green pin at each time where you want the night light to come on and push in a red pin at each time you want it to go off.

Get back if you need additional clarification.
