Question about Dell 962 Photo All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Vertical black stripe down the middle of documents. Prints fine, but problem occurs when making copies or scanning. The black stripe is several inches thick. I have cleaned the print-heads several times, I have also used the alignment tool several times. I think it might be a roller or a drum, but I don't know how to go about cleaning them.

Check your flat bed and Document feeder scanning glass need to be clean, if any dot or dust in scanning glass of document feeder it will appear a line, check this points first
1- Check printouts from computer or FAX if it is clean problem in scanning section
2- Check using Copying a blank paper using only Flatbed if it prints without any line its problem from document feeder Scanning glass
So solution is clean the Document feeder scanning glass using wet cloth, note careful about wet cloth switch off the machine and clean it

My officejet pro 8500A prints black vertical lines down the page when I make a copy. I have cleaned and aligned the printheads. What else can I do?

Happened with me too. Turned out to be a small sticky smudge on the ADF glass. That is the smaller glass scan area to the left of the large glass scanning area.
When using the ADF to scan or copy, make sure the smaller glass area is clean along with the rollers.

Canoscan 4400f delivers different colour vertical stripes low saturated but enough to make scan unusable. Have cleaned mirrors to no effect, cannot access the lens for cleaning, seems hidden in body of...

if u are scanning from a document feeder then its a spec on the glass as the paper passes over this spec the scanner reads as though the spec contiues all the way down the page
if it occurs from the flatbed scan i would suggest its dirty fuser or transfer roller

u can try a stop test by scanning a document and asking for 10 prints stop it after 2 prints and open the machine and remove the papers that are halfway through the machine this can help u narrow down exactly where the print defect starts from

I am scanning a photo. I have translucent lines running horizontal through the picture before i print it.

Documents scanned/copied from the document feeder pass over a thin glass area where scanning occurs. Clean this area if sent faxes, copies or scans have black or white vertical lines.
  1. Lift the document cover to expose the platen glass.

  2. Wipe the ADF scan area (C) with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water.

  3. Then wipe with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth making sure there are no residues left, especially on the platen glass.

  4. Close the document cover and make a copy of a text document to confirm the black line has disappeared.

Black stripe on scanned documents

Hi,

The HP Scanjet IIP scanners are supported in Windows XP and the drivers included on windows XP CD.

If you can’t manage download it from Windows XP operating system please try to update your Operating system then try again.
All the best.

Hi,

1. Try going to the bottom of any word document.

2. Click on the language tab (will show current language, eg. "German").

3. Select the desired language (eg. "English (U.K.)"). The select the "Default" button (to make it the default language for every future document).

You can also check this link to get detailed information.

Hi,
Make sure the document lies perfectly straight on the document table.
If you're printing on glossy paper, prints may be scratched if not handled properly. Don't place objects on top of your prints, and be careful not to scratch them with your fingernails. For best results, frame your prints under glass.
A moiré is a cross-hatch pattern that may appear in a scanned image of a printed document. It is caused by interference from the differing pitches in the scanner's screen and the halftone screen in your original.

  • Select the Descreening Filter check box in EPSON Scan's Home or Professional Mode window. In Professional Mode, set the Screen Ruling of the Descreening Filter setting to an appropriate setting for your document and deselect the Unsharp Mask Filter setting. See Adjusting the Color and Other Image Settings for instructions.
  • Select a lower Resolution setting. See Selecting the Scan Resolution for instructions.

You can also check this link (manual) to get detailed information.
I hope it helps.

All the best.

Vertical black line in scan document not in copies through document feeder

Lift the lid and to the left of the main glass is a smaller glass; that is what scans during the feeding process. Make sure that it is completely clean; even a speck of dust can cause a line to appear. I took a lens wipe and cleaned mine and my line was gone.

Black line down the middle of scanned documents.

Try leaving the cover open and run a test scan, once with a fresh sheet as the item to be scanned and then a second time without anything on the table.  You may see what is blocking the light source or possibly a defect in it.
Scanning is done left-right, left-right across the width of the page and the vertical stripe indicates that the blockage is present during each scanned line.
In servicing copiers and multifunction machines, I have found a number of curious contaminents, one of the most annoying was a moth, still alive, that would randomly sit on the lamp, causing some pages to come out OK, others not.
If your copies and printouts are coming out fine, then only the scanner can be at fault.
