Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook
This depends on what part the booting gets upto. Also the operating system which you use also would determine you first line of action.
But for the meantime when it gets to the screen where it tells you to put the installation disc close the window and press CTRL+ALT+DEL 2x
go to the task manager > applications and select new task, type explorer this should give you an explorer page on that page go to recycle bin and restore all deleted files.
If any files have been deleted it should be restored.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Yes the hal.dll is one of the files it needs to boot up, It gets all of the hardware together..I own and ASUS and they pretty good about sending disk. Pull the disk out that came with the system. Just put it your CD and then go into Windows Explorer and look for that file. Its probably under i386 folder or Win32 folder. Once you find it then just drag it over to the c: drive and you are ready..I didn't get a cd player in mine, so you probably didn't either. I ended up buying one from Best Buy, it works really good, it's an HP.But anyway if you can copy that file over to the C: drive of your computer then you will be ok...it didn't way anything else did it> Let me know how it turn out..

Toshiba has a wacky express media partition which you must delete before you can use your recovery disks. You should remove your drive if you can and using another computer, reformat BOTH using the manage function in my computer.
