The light engine is going out.

another expert on this site has provided a solution for this

Heres a copy of the solution

You have a defective light engine and Hitachi will replace it and they will cover the part. Here's what you need to do. Call Hitachi's customer relations departement at 800-654-7013 and tell them that you have a defective light engine. They will act like they've not heard of this but they have. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area to call. Once the dealer comes out and confirms that it's a bad light engine, call Hitachi back and they will send out a brand new light engine directly to the dealer and Hitahci will pay for the part (cost $1500). The dealer will call you to set up a day and time to come out and install.

If you're not still under warranty, you will have to pay for the install. Our install was $400 but others on this site have paid around $200. Please do not let anyone tell you that you have to pay for this part and deal directly with Hitahci. They have not recalled this part but they are replacing it with a brand new one. You just pay the install. Please deal only with their customer relations department at the 800# I listed.

I have a big blue spot in the middle of my 42 inch Panasonic plasma tv. How do I get rid of it

Your TV is in need of repair. TV's are cheap now a days. You can either live with the blue spot or buy a new TV.

My Vizio TV has dark spot top left corner

Hi Brandon,
I am afraid that the dark spot in the screen is not repairable. Manage as long as you can or go for a new tv.

I just replaced bulb with new and after a day there is a dark spot on the screen

I have the same TV - I have a dark spot in the upper left hand corner. I have always thought this TV was dark. Be sure to get OME lamp. Cheaper ones are not worth it and can damage your TV more.
dlplampsource,com--Just a note if this ever happens to you. TV would not come on in the AM-Had no picture, but had sound. It was not the lamp, but the safety switch. It's blue and at the bottom of the lamp housing. As soon as I flipped it and replaced the back cover, the TV came on.

Sanyo MODEL DP46848 Have this spot on front left of screen. Is this defect repairable. Any idea on how much to repair. Thanks

the cause it could be bad parts at the t-con board or has a loose connection going to the t-con board. before you come up with parts replacement you can re seat first the lvds cable going to the t-con board for the lcd panel. the t-con board is mounted underneath cover with metal shield.

I have black and white spots on my 52" samsung projection tv screen

White dots usually indicates that the DLP chip is failing and will need to be replaced. This is a repair best left to a technician. You can call 1-800-samsung to see if this repair would be covered under their white dot warranty, some models are covered.

A VIDEO GAME CONTROLLER HIT IT AND THE SCREEN HAS A BIG WHITE SPOT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT WITH A BUNCH OF VERTICAL RED AND BLUE LINES

Sorry to hear that, the screen is broken, and i have seen many wii's dammage the tv;s, Unfortuinalty the bad news is that the pannel needs replaced, and the cost is as much as the tv is worth. Some people may beable to get home insure to cover this kind of dammage depending on your coverage, but the warranty will not cover broken screen, if you have an extend warranty check to see if they will cover broken screens, but usaly they don't.

Blue Spot

Ok...once and for all I will explain the fix (in detail...which has been missing)...

1) Firmware updates do not fix this problem. I had this problem, and updated my firmware to the latest versons without success. Also, cleaning the light engine (or any other part) does not fix this problem. If you cleaned your TV and your problem disappeared, you had a different problem.)
2) This repair requies a special tool from Panasonic. The tool is part number LSUQ0100. It is light grey in color, and is roughly 7" x 5" x 1" in size. It has diagnostic lights on it, and a button to press to start the procedure. This tool is used to reprogram your EEPROM. Again, this is VERY different than flash upgrading your firmware.
3) To repair the TV, the repairman must remove the lower back of the unit and plug the long, 5-wire connector (5 individual wires terminated to one female connector end - reminds you a bit of an old-style CD-ROM audio cable used in computers) into a male recepticle on the light engine.
4) The procedure takes roughly 6-7 minutes to complete. The TV remains on during the procedure (yeah, I was a bit surprised too). About mid-way through the procedure, your colored ball-shaped blotches will just disappear....no on-screen progress bar, no bright flash, the spots just disappear in the blink of the eye.
5) CALL PANASONIC!!! They are standing behind these TVs, and are covering these in-home repairs free-of-charge - EVEN IF YOUR TV IS OUT OF WARRANTY. Mine was out of warranty by over a year. The Panasonic rep was very kind, but did explain that this is the only repair for these TVs that they will cover out of warranty, as it was a defect in the manufacture of the unit - all other repairs are at the expense of the customer.

Good luck to all - I hope this helps some of you!
Cheers to Panasonic for standing behind their products like this....you don't see that very much these days!

Thanks,
Chris
