I didn't have any problems transferring the files..they showed up as tho they were ON the mp3 player when it was still plugged into the USB drive. It's after I disconnect it from the computer that they don't show up.

been there...tried that...didn't work either :( I presume you are talking about the "safely remove hardware" icon? Didn't make any difference. BUT ..I tried AGAIN..since you suggested it..and deleted all the songs I had on it already...and copied just one song back over...with same results..no files :( Somewhere I read that maybe I needed a "music" file on the MP3 player...so ..I tried it with that..and still no difference...NO FILES! :(

Ok..thought I'd better make a post to let you know that I got it to work and I'm embarrassed to say it's my own stupidity :( On this particular player..there is a little toggle thingy on the side and it is what is used to change modes..ie..music, voice, settings, etc. If you push it down once..it takes you to the mode..but ..I found out you have to push it down TWICE...to actually go INTO that mode...hence "Music" . SO ...once I did that...I got into my files.

Thank you so much for your help..I am sure the things you suggesed worked for others...who didn't have the stupidity factor involved. :/ Have a great day and God bless! Sandy :)

I had the same problem, so what I did first is formating the player using FAT32, it didn't work.
after that I formated the player using FAT and guess what , it worked, I copied my MP3 files and they are showing now.

One very important tool when using file transfer is windows explorer. Keep your flash drive connected. Go to Start/Accessories/windows explorer (or with the keyboard shortcut: the windows + the letter e).

Need more info?

Ok. Can you retry to copy only one file to your flash drive. And before you remove it, click on the USB icon (bottom right of the screen) to be able to remove your drive securely.

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting music files to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

With a Sansa Clip+ only work with Rhapsody? I don't want to have to pay for an account and then also pay for the songs as well.

No, Sansa players work with many types of music files and computers.
You may want to post details about your computer-- Mac, Windows, or Linux?
Also, what computer software do you use for music-- MediaMonkey? Windows Media Player?
Assuming you are using Windows XP--
You may already have songs on your Win XP computer, in Windows Media Player. If so, you can synchronize your player with Win Media Player-- This will load all the songs from your computer onto the Sansa, space permitting.

You can also copy files directly to the Sansa player, just as you copy files to a flash drive:

1) Configure the Sansa Player as a removable drive.
With player unplugged, go to Settings > System Settings > USB Mode
Select MSC

2) Plug the Sansa player into your computer.
The computer will recognize it as a flash drive, and will assign a drive letter.

3) Open Windows Explorer.
Find the directory on your computer that contains music files.
Copy and paste music files into the Music directory on your Sansa player.

4) Using the green arrow, bottom left on the system tray, safely shut down the Sansa player.

5) When you unplug it, the player will spend a minute or two updating its files.

6) Your music should be available to play.

If you are running things on a system other than Win XP, please post more details--
Someone may give you a more exact solution.

Best of luck!

I have aquired an e140 1GB MP3 and need a manual.

http://www.sandisk.com/assets/File/pdf/guides/sansa-e100-userguide.pdf

I believe this should be the manual that your looking for. You may also want to try hooking the MP3 player up to your computer via the usb cable. After doing so, if nothing automatically comes up, you should be able to open the players drive via the my computer option. A lot of times a copy of the manual and the operating software can be found here.

Can't move music from Zune to new computer

No. You cannot take music off your zune and put it on another computer. You will need to copy your music files found under My Documents, My music, zune. put it onto a large flash or external drive. Then install the zune software onto the other computer i havent done so already. Take the files you copied and paste them back into the zune folder on the computer. You might have to reauthenicate music that you have downloaded. Just log in and it should be fine

Need help with puting music on my mp3

if you are running XP it's simply a matter of copying the files to the player in the same manner that you copy and other files to a USB flash drive. I like to right click start, select explore, and work from there. you don't even have to worry about subfolders for different types of files you copy to the player. the player will present a list of files with the correct extension for each mode. (i.e. Music Mode will list only files with .mp3 extension, Photo Mode will only list .jpg files, etc.)
