Question about Intel Motherboard

1 Answer

Led or at least I think it's a light.  I just finished building my computer.   My case is a used one which I think is an Antec (sp) gaming case.  I am not into games but I'd read both my chosen cpu and graphic card run hot and the additional fans was ideal. Anyhow, my question is The front of the case has a door opening to the cd/dvd/off/on etc (very fancy red and black case).  A cable runs from the base of the door down into the front inside of the case.  The cable has a connection on the end for a two prong pin.  Since the case has only two connections - power and reset, my guess is this cable would be for lights in the door when the computer is on but if so, does it plug into Hled, Sled or Pled. Sorry my terminology is so urbane/mundane/lame but hope I got the message across. thank you for any advice

I just did a complete new build of a computer using the Elitegroup ECS A885GM-A2 board. It powers on, shows an LED on the board, but does not beep and there is no display whatsoever. All the fans ar

usually this means that the board is powered on, but that the cpu hasn't been initialized. make sure your cpu pins are clean of thermal grease and that it is properly seated. make sure your board is compatible with the cpu and if you can get a spare (known good) cpu to boot the board with, see if it starts, and see if you can update the bios.

again, basically the issue is CPU related. at some point you may have to just RMA the processor since it is a possibility that it might be DOA. good luck!

I have an emachines El 1352g and i wanted to get a bigger case for it. What should i get?

Any computer case that supports ATX motherboards will be compatible. I would look at Antec, and CoolerMaster cases in particular. My recommendations would be the antec 300 or coolermaster HAF 922.

I have motherboard i845G with intel chipset i845GL , processor is Intel celeron@1800 MHZ. Ram is DDR SD256 MB Ram. Can I upgrade my RAM to DDR 2 1GB RAM.

No each type of ram is different, it wouldn't even fit in the slots, nevermind use it. To upgrade to a different type of ram you'll need to get a new motherboard. Unfortunately there aren't many motherboards that'll take your processor any more, unless maybe if you try to get a second hand one.

Here's a link to one, there may be a few more available elsewhere though

If I were you I'd think about building/buying one with a newer processor. If you decided to build one yourself, then you could get a new motherboard, ddr2 ram and a new cpu for about £150 and use the other components from your present system ie. case, dvd drives, hard drives, although you may have to get a new power supply if your current one can't supply enough power, that would add another £50 for a decent reliable one, go for a decent make like antec or ocz

Obviously I'm in England so it may be cheaper or more expensive depending on where you live. The links below are for an example of what you could get if you decided to build a new one.

I agree with you about the power supply being faulty. Unfortunately FixYa is not affiliated with Antec nor sells or service any computer components.
You need to contact the supplier who sold you the power supply or contact Antec.

Very briefly touch a metal-tip screwdriver between these 2 pins.
If the computer powers-on, you've found the "power" connector.

ASUS P5QC refuses to boot

This is a known issue with Asus motherboards. I got 2 in my shop with the same problem. While I didn't have your model I'll assume the issue is on that board as well.

Clear cmos with the jumper on the motherboard. This resolves the issue with no video.
There should be a 2 pin jumper, your motherboard manual will show you where its located.

Good Luck

If the wires from the reset switch is white/blue the blue wire is positive, Hdd red/white red is positive power Green/white Green is positive etc. The wires on the speaker connector will be red/black/black/white - red is positive. The colored wire is always positive. On all GA mb's the positive connection is always towards the back of the MB and are marked with a + on the base of the pin as you can see on the photo. Hope this help.
