Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Fn key is not working properly

Usually on a laptop If the keyboard starts acting funny there is pretty much no simple thing you can do to fix it. Step one would be to connect another keyboard through usb to the laptop and see if the problem persists with the new keyboard. If it doesn't and this problem isn't something you can live with then its time to get a new keyboard for your laptop. Don't worry they usually cost around $60 and are easy to install. I use this site alot if i come across a laptop i have yet to see and need to take it apart. http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2007/08/30/removing-replacing-laptop-keyboard/. Now Removing your keyboard will void your warranty and if you are unsure about doing it then your best bet would be to take it to the professional. But doing this will probably add another $100 to the price of the repair. Good Luck in getting your keyboard fixed. If it were be I would just live with the Fn key not working and Find another way to do whatever it is i was trying to do :)

Keyboard on my dell studio 1737 doesn't work, mousepad works, keyboard does not

It could be one of two things, the ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the motherboard is disconnected.

Or it's a defective keyboard.

Keyboards for laptops are relatively inexpensive, anywhere between 20-40 dollars on ebay.
Buying a new keyboard and having a computer technician install it, which takes ten minutes, should be a good investment, rather than getting a new computer or sending it back to dell.

Hope this helped.

I need 2 keys for my p205-6287

you can order a replacement keyboard from ebay and replace the whole thing. its a couple of screws and when pulling apart the laptop you must be careful of the clips. Also they probably sell them by the key on there.

How do I remove and replace the keyboard on and Acer Aspire 5920 laptop

Hi, well replacing a keyboard on a laptop is not the hardest thing ever. But you need to know a bit where you are going with this. The best thing to do would be to get a service manual explaining step by step what to do. But usually it's only a matter of removing a lot of screws with the correct screwdriver and put everything in place like it was at first. Also dont forget to properly connect the keyboard connector on the board just before replacing everything. If you are not confortable with this, i suggest you bring it to a local computer store to do the operation. IMO, some laptops are easier than others for keyboards (i.e. new lenovo laptops) but you can give it a shot.

Keyboard won't stop repeating the hyphen/underscore key.

Hey,

You have few solutions to this

  1. disconnect the keyboard flex cable from the motherboard so the keyboard is not connected at all.
  2. replace the keyboard
On option 1 you would need to take the laptop apart from the top so that you can take the keyboard out so that you can disconnect the cable, then place it back in.

On option 2 you would also need to take the laptop apart / open it from the top to get the keyboard out and disconnect the cable. and replace it with a new keyboard.

Look around ebay for the correct keyboard for your model, here is a ebay listing for acer laptop keyboards

Thanks and good luck.

Keyboard problem on brandnew laptop

Several reasons: 1. because of spilled liquid on this keyboard area, 2. because of heavy and/or hard thing fell on this keyboard area
3. because the laptop fell from the high height on the left side.
4. because you bought it already damaged
5. hardly probably software malfunction
For the first case you might need to disassemble the keyboard and clean all the metallic surfaces of these buttons. It's not so easy to disassemble it in right way. Second-third case - you'll need to purchase a new keyboard for it and replace with the damaged. Fourth case - claim your seller to change your laptop with the new one or get your money back. Good luck

Keyboard's keys sometimes don't respond

It is not a driver it is a keyboard that is having troubles itself unfortunately, you can try to find new one on eBay since that ones printed wires sort of are broken. What happens is that your keyboard pops out a little and disconnects some letters so you need to press in the middle to get it back to work, the same thing was happening to previous one.

either the keyboard/mouse (2 in 1 on laptops) drivers are invalid in which case you can go to http://support.acer.com and download the keyboard/mouse drivers and/or utility.
