I think if you do not have a recovery disc then the operating system needs to be reinstalled. It is also possible that the system needs a virus scan if there was a case of malwares within the PC.

Yes you can reset your bios settings to factory defaults then it not ask for password.

For that open back side of laptop then you can find motherbord chipset.
Pull cmos cell from motherbord for 10 minutes so all settings are defaults.

Don't worry my friend...I'm also quite forgetful...Try boot the computer in safe mode by pressing F8(tap repeatedly during start off immediately when its turned on)...and log onto the administrators account...From there go to control panel and select the user accounts option and change your password form there...Also create a reset disk to avoid problems later on when you next forget the password(which i trust you won't :) )
