You have to open to see what had failed on the drive but itcan be the gear drive that meshes on, as most of them are made with nylon it is possible that a gear has broken or has turned internally to slip.

"Clunk" sound from mixer while running, now does not turn on at all.

You could take the brush covers off and pull the brushes out and look down the hole with a torch and see if you can see anything unusual down there. Also back cover off and look at the switch, wires and governor. If nothing is noted then you will be pulling it apart looking and testing until you find the fault. Making a clunk sound followed by death sounds to me like something has engaged with the motor armature and the majority of that is deep inside. Here in NZ those things have a 5 year guarantee, if wherever you are is close to still being in guarantee you should get it to a repair agent for repair without fiddling about.

Why can't my kitchen aid mixer turn n

Sounds like the worm gear was stripped. This gear is designed to fail when the load on the motor is too great. This protects the motor from overheating and burning out. By the way, the mixer should not be used above the number 2 speed when using the dough hook.

The worm gear is not all that hard to replace although you will have to contend with a lot of grease. See the Service Manual:

Turntable does not turn. Motor runs. Beaters work.

I have the same one, and the turn table has never turned on it's own. from looking at the bottom of the stand, i think the mixers are supposed to turn the bowl, so i just give it a little turn, and the mixers kinda take care of the rest. BTW, i got 2 sets of beaters with mine and i dont know what the second set is for, do you? contact me at rawemo@hotmail.com

Motor is not running now

Im a service tech for hobart and repair these mixers often-is it worth repairing the unit?YES it is.I have never seen a motor burn up on these units,i have seen keys sheared and gears broken but thats the extent. There is a overload/reset button that sits on the back of the mixers pedistal,if its tripped when you push it in it will click.when these units need service it is usually from overloading the unit with too much product.Any other questions let me know.

Mixer motor shut down

Mine did almost the exact same thing one day. I have the Artisian Model, It would do it on any of the lowest speeds. Dont know if this will help you or not but I just ran mine the next day on all the way high with the spash guard on for making whipped cream for about 6 minutes full throttle and for some reason it hasnt went slow and shut itself off since then. Mine is about 7 months old. I called Kitchen Aid but their customer service all of a sudden seems to not know english worth a poo...

Try running yours on full blast for 5 minutes with something simple in the bowl. If its a 250 watt or higher make whipped water out of 2 cups of water and a tablespoon of cornstarch. Run it till you get what looks like whipped cream. Oh yea. Use the Balloon whip. The lubrication in the motor is supposed to last for at least 5 years but I have seen on numerous post's that if you run them on all the way for at least 5 minutes the oil will even out in the motor. Running the mixers at low speed alot will cause the oil inside not to move as freely since the motor doesnt heat up the oil in the gears.

Good luck.
