well the vent had some lint in it i vac the whole thing out and installed new vent pipe. still nothing

  • triplecmaste Sep 30, 2010

THE VENT WAS FULL OF LINT AND I DID NOTICE THAT THE DRYER WAS REAL HOT THE LAST TIME I OPENED IT BEFORE IT WAS THRU SO I CLEAANED IT OUT AND INSTALLED A NEW VENT PIPE BUT STILL WONT START UP. DONT REALLY SEE HOW SHOES COULD HAVE DAMAGED THE CONTROL BOARD. THIS DRYER IS NOT VERY OLD AND IT DONT GET USED THAT MUCH

  • triplecmaste Sep 30, 2010

I HAVE CON THRU THE FUSE. DOES IT OPERATE THE SAME WAY A CAR FUSE DOES. IT IF IS BAD NO CURRENT FLOWS THRU

  • triplecmaste Sep 30, 2010

HOW DO I CK THE THERMOSTAT AND THE THERMISTOR

  • triplecmaste Oct 01, 2010

ok everything test good then i done a self ck on it by pressing more time , less time like the book says. and it comes up with no error. when i push the start button i hear a click in side on the left side of the dryer near the top. if i open the door it clicks twice.

  • triplecmaste Oct 01, 2010

if i try to start the dryer with the door open it beeps twice but when i close the door it only beeps once. if i hold the start button and open the door it beeps twice.

  • triplecmaste Oct 01, 2010

well i guess i cked it i open and closed the door and it wont do any thing with the door open. what do i have to do to change the control and where do i get it. the other thing is i keep hearing that clicking sound in side the dryer kind of like a contact switch clicking on and off.

  • triplecmaste Oct 01, 2010

i know i am worring you but i am trying to get it fixed. my wife is on my **** if you know what i mean

  • triplecmaste Oct 01, 2010

ok i did the test on the door switch and it test good. it beeps when it should and displays the codes thet it is suppose to. i really dont know what to try next. unless i replace the control.

  • triplecmaste Oct 01, 2010

yeah but 200 is alot for a dryer less than 2 yrs old and i cant figure out how putting a pair of shoes in it made that part go bad

  • triplecmaste Oct 10, 2010

ON THE CONTROL BOARD THERE IS A RELAY SWITCH THAT SAYS MOTOR UNDER IT AND THE CLICKING IS COMING FROM THAT RELAY. STILL THINK THE BOARD COULD BE BAD

  • triplecmaste Oct 10, 2010

WELL CAN IT BE REPLACED IS WHAT I AM ASKING. OR DO YOU THINK THERE MIGHT BE A MOTOR PROBLEM.

  • triplecmaste Oct 10, 2010

COOL I AM GOING TO TRY TO FIND IT. WILL LET YOU KNOW IF IT WORKS

  • triplecmaste Oct 10, 2010

thanks for all your help on this. i had a family emerg. and had to leave 4 a week that is why you didnt hear from me

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Unfortunately Dryer is not made to wash shoes, to reset the control and solve this issue press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 15-20 seconds. If still its not resolved then the flashing Sensing Light indicates that the Thermal fuse which is mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel has gone bad and should be replaced. Before replacing this fuse you can check continuity between its two pins, no continuity means bad fuse and if the fuse if fine then unfortunately the Belt is broken and should be replaced. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

If the vent is clean then check the Thermostat, if thats also fine then the electronic control should be replaced. Please check this repair manual for your Dryer which will help you.

The control panel is bad and should be replaced.

  • Rylee Smith
    Rylee Smith Sep 30, 2010

Thats the reason the first thing I said to check if the Thermal fuse is fine, if thats fine then check the thermostat and thermistor.

    Rylee Smith Sep 30, 2010

Have you checked it for continuity, you can test continuity between its two pins, no continuity means bad fuse, moreover you can also check the repair manual that I gave you earlier.

    Rylee Smith Sep 30, 2010

You can check the repair manual that I gave you earlier for the procedure and dont know if I told you to check the door switch but that should also be checked.

The issue seems to be with the door switch.

  • Rylee Smith
    Rylee Smith Oct 01, 2010

If you have already checked the door switch and thats fine then it is the control that is bad.

  • Rylee Smith
    Rylee Smith Oct 01, 2010

That is the reason I am saying its the door switch, you can get the parts from this link.

I understand everything ;) As I said clicking sound means the door switch is bad however, as you have the repair manual you can also check the place from where you hear that sound.

  • Rylee Smith
    Rylee Smith Oct 01, 2010

It seems you have already checked everything else so you know replacing control is always recommended.

First thing will be to contact Whirlpool and let them know about the issue, usually the control board and motor are covered under 5 yrs warranty. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

    Thanks

I thought the issue was resolved and still you are back :) yes you are right that relay switch might be bad, please post a comment for further assistance.

  • Rylee Smith
    Rylee Smith Oct 10, 2010

If you are able to get relay then yes it can be replaced dont think its motor issue. If it was the motor then you'll hear a humm sound.

it sounds like the problem may be with the door lock. Having shoes bouncing around in the dryer they are bound to hit the door over and over possible causing damage to the lock. Try pushing on the door and holding it shut while you turn on the unit and see if it works.

Open the dryer door and slowly rotate the dryer drum in a counterclockwise (CCW) direction. Rotate the drum 2-3 revolutions and then shut the door and see if it will start. If it continues to just hum and not start could indicate a voltage issue, motor issue or a friction issue. Open the door again and locate the door switch plunger in the upper or lower corner on the hinge side of the drum opening. Hold the plunger in while someone begins rotating the drum counterclockwise. While turning the drum counter clockwise and holding the door switch plunger inwards press the start button. If it starts, there is likely a friction problem or motor problem.

My electric dryer runs for a few minutes then shuts off. You can restart it almose immediately.

Probably the door switch. Is it closing tightly? Open the door and look at the switch, is it loose or any signs of problems. Try putting some tape on the edge of the door where it makes contact with the switch and see if it makes better contact.

Check to see if the little tab in the door jam, which causes the dryer to turn off, is broken or bent. If its bent you may just need to bend it back.

Maytag Neptune dryer won't start/

I do not have that specific dryer but try these simple steps.
Maybe they will help you.
1. Shut the electric breaker off to the dryer for about 30 seconds and and back on.
2. Open the dryer door and inspect the switch that tells the dryer the door is closed. work it by hand just to make sure it is not stuck.
3. Spin the timer controls to another setting and see if the other setting will work.

That's all I've got for now...

2 more things could be wrong, check the blower box to see if you have a thermister thermostat on it,check that with your omns meter, the other thing is the motor is no longer strong enough to turn the drum and it heat up and tips off,let me know what you find-mike

Hunting boots no no!

If you have one of those fubuloso wrinkle guard whirlpools, they will buzz and start back up on their own in the cool down portion of the cycle the idea being the 2nd timer will keep the clothes from wrinkling by buzzing and then coming to life for a few minutes. Then it waits 10 minutes and if you aint got the clothes out or opened the door then it will repeat.
