There are no "user-replacable" parts for the video-interface.

Instead, take the computer & power-supply to a qualified technician, for safe & proper trouble-shooting & repair.

Aspire one black screen problem

Hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if picture okay! the inverter board just below the laptop screen is defective, "more than likely" or the backlight behind the display is faulty, but if both show the same symptom it is the video graphics card normally built into the motherboard.

Screen is white with black vertical lines upon booting up. I can't get beyond this screen.

The video card (built-in on the motherboard) maybe faulty or the LCD screen is faulty.
Connect an external monitor to the video port of your laptop, power up the monitor first then boot up your laptop. If the video card id OK then the laptop will automatically divert the video to the external monitor. Then the problem is a faulty LCD screen.
If the external monitor also displays black vertical lines then you have a faulty video card and since it is part of the motherboard it is impossible to fix.

My acer aspire 5520-5334 won't start

Pull The Battery... Unplug The AC Adapter....
Press and Hold The Power On Button For 30 Seconds...
Reinsert The Battery, Plug In Ac Adapter... Attempt to Power On..

Also Try Removing The Battery And Powering Up Using The Power Cord Alone.....

If Still No Power.... Remove and Reseat The Memory Modules...

Still No?

You'll Next Need To Check To See If The DC Jack Is Faulty...

If It's Faulty, You'll Need To Desolder It, Clean The Board, Resolder a New One ON....

If Still No Power...

Check The Heatsink/Fan Assembly...it might be clogged...

Still No?

Possibly Faulty Video / GPU Chip....Or a Shorted Out Motherboard..

My aspire one is less than a year old and the display won't show. I am able to turn it on but the monitor remains blank.

There could be a faulty video card or inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. To check if the video card is faulty, attach an external monitor to the video port on the laptop, power up the monitor first then the laptop. The video data will switch to the monitor automatically and if you see a normal image the the video card is OK and the fault is a back-light problem.
Either way, the laptop should be still under warranty and it should be repaired under warranty.
if you try to repair it yourself most likely you will void your warranty.
If your laptop is out of warranty then check out LCD Parts for service, parts and DIY info - click on this link to their WEB site:-

Acer Aspire One 10.1" vertical line down the center of the screen

To determine if you have a faulty LCD screen or a faulty video card, connect an external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first the the laptop. The video output should automatically switch to the external monitor. If you get a normal image then the video card is OK, and the fault is with the LCD screen.
If you still get a bad image, then the fault could be a faulty video card or video RAM. Most laptops use part of the main RAM module for video RAM, try reseating the RAM modules and or test the RAM modules. If the RAM is OK then the fault is the video card.

Purchased a Acer Aspire 2930z. i get a blank white screen.

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the laptop up, if you get a normal image on the external monitor then you have a faulty LCD screen and may be replaced. If you still get a white screen then you most likely have a faulty video card.

The video card is part of the motherboard and usually cannot be repaired, the motherboard is normally replaced but it may not be cost effective to replace. If the laptop is a several years old then it is time to get a new one.

SCREEN PROBLEM

Most latop are on board video rather than a seperate card.

If the external adapter is working with an lcd screen then it must the laptop screen that is faulty and not the video card/ on board gpu.
