Question about HP Officejet 5510xi Printer

My HP Officejet 5510xi all-in-one printer will not print. I hit the print button several times then as the printer was printing extras I hit the cancel button then the power off button ! I cleared all unwanted copies off my computer. It will print from the scanner ONLY. I do NOT know how to reset my printer I lost the book. Can you please help? Thanks, Ardel * Dawson

This is the one way that you are printing y using the print button on printer, however if you would install the printer driver on your system then you can print all the documents by using the printer icons on your system, if you have driver disk of this printer please install the printer driver fist and then try to print, Please let me know it works or not so i can send you more details about that

Is it a PRINT CARRIAGE error or a PRINT CARTRIDGE error?

On the computer:-

Click on start-->control panel-->printers and faxes or printers-->right click on HP Officejet 6500 Wireless All-in-one Inkjet Printer.--> choose the print preferences option. Now you will see in the list of options there is some thing called depluex printing --> Select it and hit the apply button and then try printing.

It is actually a setting under the printers properties which needs to be switched on. Once you switch it on it will start working.

My HP officejet 6110 all-in-one will not print. It keeps saying to align cartriges which i've done several times.


If you do a test print and any color is missing it won't pass alignment and keep giving the error. If you're happy with the printing, when it says press enter to align, press and hold the enter button and press the menu button. The error will go away and let you print.

try to install and reinstall the printer cartridge...and also clean the tab circuit of the cartridge and tab circuit of the printer carrier..

if the problem still exist..
rebreak the printer by full-out the power supply...to reset the settings and then turn it back...

Error of the print cartidge


the print cartridges needs to be cleaned first and rechecked if same error the particular cartridge which is showing error must be replaced.

Reset the product:
  1. Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product.
  2. Remove the cartridges from the product.
  3. Wait for the 'Insert Cartridges ' message to display on the control panel.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
  5. Wait 60 seconds.
  6. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button (c01602202.gif ).
  7. Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product.
  8. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
  9. Reconnect the USB cable to the rear of the product, and then try printing again.

Command print, set up like it will print, but immediately brings up fax form to be completed for faxing...............unable to get print. Suggestions? Thanks, Dave


Make sure your printer is set as the default printer in the control panel of your printer. You fax mode could be setup for default causing the problem.

this should work for all 5500 hp printers i hope this helps you out richard from chicago i just noticed you have the wrong cartage you need hp 57 color that will make all the difference :-) HP Officejet 5500 series All-in-One model Black cartridge Color cartridge HP Officejet 5505 HP 56 HP 57 HP Officejet 5508 HP 56 HP 57 HP Officejet 5515 HP 56 HP 57 HP Officejet 5510, HP Officejet 5510xi, HP Officejet 5510v HP 56 HP 57 HP Officejet 5600 series Replacing the print cartridges
  1. Turn on the HP Officejet, and lift open the print-carriage access door. The print carriage will move into the access area. Figure 1: Opening the print-carriage access door c00034766.jpg
  2. After the carriage stops moving, push down on the top of the print cartridge to release it, and then pull it toward you out of the slot. Figure 2: Removing the print cartridge c00034767.jpg NOTE: It is normal to see ink buildup in the print cartridge slots.
  3. Remove the new print cartridge from the packaging and gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab. CAUTION: Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles. Install the cartridge immediately upon removing the tape to prevent ink from drying in the nozzles. Figure 3: Removing the plastic tape c00034768.jpg
  4. Push the new print cartridge into the appropriate slot at a slight angle, until it clicks into place. CAUTION: Do not attempt to push the cartridge straight into the slot. It must slide in at a slight angle. Figure 4: Inserting the print cartridge c00034769.jpg
  5. Close the print-carriage access door.
Aligning the print cartridges The HP Officejet will prompt you to align the print cartridges every time you install a new print cartridge to assure high-quality output.
  1. When the message displays, press OK . The HP Officejet will print an alignment page.
  2. Place the alignment page face down on the left front corner of the glass with the top of the page facing the left side.
  3. Press OK . The HP Officejet will align the print cartridges and display Alignment Complete .
