SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

How do I change the format of my downloaded pix from NEF to JPEG?

I use GIMP 2, a free open source editor that is very sophisticated.

I think I had to install an add-on so that it would read NEF files. Gimp converts all files that are edited in it to its own "xtg" file extensions. After I finish editing, I save the picture in the "xtg" file extension then I import it in "jpg" format to the same folder where the original NEF along with the XTG formats are stored. During the editing process, I usually scale the image if I plan to send it somewhere on the web.

I think a lot of other editors have a similar function, especially if the proper codecs are installed.

In addition, in the past I have used conversion programs to do the same thing but it's been a long time. Do a web search for NEF converters and you may come up with a free program or two that will allow you to make the conversion without editing the picture.

How to put photo on gimp

To open a photo in GIMP, simply open GIMP and when the blank GIMP Workspace appears, click and drag your picture from wherever it is saved (ie: from your Pictures Folder) into the GIMP workspace.

How do I upload picture to gimp?

GIMP is a program saved on your computer, you don't need to upload an image, but to simply open an image using GIMP. There are two ways to accomplish this:

File Browser
While viewing your files, right-click on your image, and place the mouse over "Open With". This will bring up a new menu, from which you select "GIMP Image Editor". If GIMP is not an option, select "Other Application". This will bring up a list of applications for you to choose from. Scroll down until you see "GIMP Image Editor", select it, then click "Open".

From GIMP
The second method is by running GIMP first, then clicking "File", then "Open". From there, find your image, select it, and then click "Open".

I can be more specific or provide screenshots if necessary. Hope this helped!

I did copied an image from a book so i want to make it bigger

You need photo editing software, like free Gimpshop.

Go to Gimpshop and download program:
This is a very good photo editor, and it's free.
http://www.gimpshop.com/

1) After the download, You have to open gimpshop once so a shortcut appears on desktop.
So go to start, all programs, and look for GIMPshop, and put mouse on GIMPshop, and box appears, and then click on GIMPshop located in that box.
Gimp opens. The close Gimp and see there is a desktop icon.

2) Find the image you want to make bigger.
Hover mouse over your image without clicking mouse, and the size of image will show in small box. For example it will show Dimensions: 1000 x 700
Write down the size

3) Drag and drop your image on top of gimp icon and program will open.

4) Once photo is loaded.
Go to 'Image' at top of program and select 'image size'
You will see numbers for width and height appear in small boxes.
Use your mouse and keyboard to change the numbers and double the size.
For example make new dimensions 2000 x 1400.
Or make it 3 times bigger.
Then click 'scale'

5) You will see the image is bigger.

6) Time to save larger image.
Go to 'File' at top of program
Click 'save a copy'
Box comes up with name. Re-name the image so it does not replace original.
Click save.

7) another box comes up with a 'quality' slider
Move slider to 100%
Click OK

8) Bigger image is saved and ready

HOW DO YOU EDIT PICTURES?

it is very easy and at this same time very difficult question... to answer it correctly, you need doctorate in electronic art...

i assume you do want just to trim the edges, or remove red from eyes and similiar, i would suggest downloading free program called GIMP, it is enormous and gigantic in general, will do everything what $2000.00 adobe will do without the price tag...

http://www.gimp.us.com/gimplp2/index.php?brand=gimp.us&s=google&country=int&c=gimp.us_alotpf_pg&k={keywords}&pk=1570-10

that program will be one way, if you want something smaller, there are few links for other freebies. please do read onsite what they are capable of, and choose most suitable for your particular purpose.

this one is one of the favourites:
http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index.php

these you need to have look, personally, i would download all of them and try them, leave that single which i like and remove all rest:

http://www.ultimatepaint.com/
http://www.ne.jp/asahi/mighty/knight/index.html
http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/photoplus/
http://www.getpaint.net/

as i mentioned previously, all these programs are free, there are tutorial sites available for them (especially gimp) free on line as well, hope this will help solve your problem.

if you find this advice useful, please do not hesitate to leave your comment and 4hand vote for me, thanx!

I closed the layer and the other stuff (it's on the right) in gimp... how can i get it back ? T.T

From the main menu, select "Windows" then "Dockable Dialogs" then pick whatever you want to open. Or else "Windows" then "Recently Closed Docks" if you haven't done much with other windows since you closed them.

It keeps shutting down.

First of all, make sure you have enough ram (I know, it sounds stupid, but you'd be surprised). Also, you should uninstall GIMP, reboot and reinstall it ONLY FROM gimp.org! Nowhere else. This is a common problem and happens to all of us from time to time. You can find additional help at:
