Use an Ethernet cable to connect from the network-port on your computer to one of the LAN ports on your router, to get Internet access.
Then, access http://WindowsUpdate.Microsoft.com
and click "Custom" scan.
When it completes, on the left, click "Optional Hardware",
and see if Windows Update is offering you a device-driver for your wireless adapter.
If so, check-box that driver, and install the update.

I need the driver and cannot find my disk

Try downloading a Driver Updater software ' it will solve your problem painlessly.

If your currently using a legitimate windows xp - then

> Go to START
> Right Click MY COMPUTER
> PROPERTIES go to the HARDWARE tab
> open DEVICE MANAGER

- you should see a brief list of installed hardwares on your computer
- the device in question should be marked with a yellow question mark.

> CHECK if this is the device Genica 300Mbps Wireless LAN
> Update Hardware
> Look for the drivers on the Internet = check this

If Microsoft cant find your drivers - then your last option is to use a Driver Updater
No Virus and Hassle Free :)

I formatted my acer 5720-4126 and changed from windows vista to windows xp pro. Now I cannot connect to the internet nor can I connect to my wireless router

Hi krazyaiien,

You might not be able to connect to the Router because your Wireless LAN driver might not be installed. Try downloading the Wireless LAN Drivers from the Acer Website that I have posted below.

When you open the website you have to enter your location. Another page opens, and to the left of the page select 'Download Center (All Products)'. Then on the next page select the correct model of your laptop. When you have selected the correct model, the website gives you a list of drivers applicable for your system. Scroll down and select 'Wireless LAN'.

Hope the picture below will help you in the selection process.

Lost my programs

Most of the time manufacturers put preloaded software and the OS on different disks, do you have multiple cd's that came with it?

Have you tried wiping the hard drive before with success? Did it install some of the preloaded softwares, or none of them?

After formating my laptop, tcl k40 the sound and wireless stop

The sound driver and the wireless driver come along with the motherboard disk.you need to install them separately or if you dont have the disk or lost it by any chance, you can get the same version from another similar laptop with the same required drivers. This should help you out.

Need a new way to install

Andres -

If you have a regular(wired) LAN port on your computer, you can download the drivers and install them from the manufacturer's web site.

Otherwise, the easiest way would be to download the drivers on a different computer, copy them to a USB Flash drive(Such as the SanDisk Cruzer Micro), and use the Flash drive to install the drivers on your computer.

Hope this helps!

Cannot play dvds as drivers lost when changing from vista to xp home.when enter dvd it says dvd decoder and drives lost

If you are running XP, you will need to install a DVD playback application. IN VIsta, DVD playback is native to WIndows, in XP, Dell used a program called Cyberlink PowerDVD. You can either buy PowerDVD on line or download a free DVD playback application from places like Download.com. I've had good luck with the AVS DVD player here:

http://www.download.com/AVS-DVD-Player/3000-7970_4-10491860.html?cdlPid=10669161

If you just installed XP on this system, it is also important that all the drivers are installed and in the correct order. Dell's preferred order is:

Notebook System Software
Chipset Utility
Video Driver
Sound Driver
Modem Driver
Network Driver
Wireless Driver
Touchpad Driver
Quickset Utility

Drivers are available here:

Gigabyte motherboard cd

You do not not need your motherboard CD to preform a format on your drive. Any windows CD. Win XP home, XP Pro, Win 2000 will format your hard drive. You can also use the hard drive's Mfg's utility disks & creat a bootable floppy disk or creat a bootable CDROM disk that will not only allow you to format the hard drive but also fun testing on the drive. You can even pick your cluster size & FAT file. Write down the name of your drive & model no#. Go to the Mfg's web site & download the utility software. Chances are Windows will have most of your boards drivers in it's data base. All you'll need to do is download from Gigabyte your missing drivers. You'll need you complete model no# & version no# if you can find it.
