I have a Roland vs 840 ex it has had a c.f. drive installed the machine seems to work perfect except when I set up and get ready to record and depress play or rec it says no disk. It has a 4gb c.f. card.I...

Try to initialise (format) it in your computer. Use an external card reader. I think you should use FAT 16 or FAT 32. But once the Roland sees the card, do an initialise there.
It could be the Roland can;t work with memory cards above 2 Gbyte, for that try to make a 1 Gbyte partition in your computer and again try if it works.

I'm attempting to install a Hitachi hard disk drive model DK237A-32 removed from a Roland VS 1680 digital 16 track recorder into my PC which runs Windows vista OS. I've done a ton of research but...

The last time i used a VS-1680 was probably over 7 years ago, but if memory serves me right the only way of taking the tracks of to a pc, was by using an spdif line out to the pc and recording them that way, which if i remember right was a dog slow process as you were limited in how many tracks you could record at a time. there is an old forum i used to frequent with a guy quoting this
so that may be another way of doing it

Sorry i couldnt be any more help

My roland vs2400CD keeps getting stuck at the load screen. I have tried the factory reset, but can't complete it. Is there anything else I can try, or do I have to have my hard drive replaced?

Hold the two buttons down above the slider on track #4 when turning the power on. You have something that is corrupt on your hard drive. This bypasses looking for a project to load up and just goes straight to the operating system.

I have a roland vs-840ex and it keep saying no disk when i put one in there

Hi ,
I hope I can help you with your issue ,
the zip drive is either dirty or bad.
The zip drive has a drive spindle that could be not spinning correctly or the reading heads are bad.
Try a can of air to blow the dust out first.
or remove the drive and try cleaning the heads (not an easy job) .
here are the instructions for replacing the drive

BR8 Digital recording studio lights up, but it doesn't do anything else

I called Roland at the number that you provided and gave they following proceedure which will re-intialize the BR 1180 and ERASE everything that was created on the HD:
  1. Simultaneously hold down button beneath volume control at track 5 and Undo/Redo button at upper right
  2. Press power button while holding down buttons as above, until test menu comes up
  3. Turn selector dial untill initialize screen shows
  4. Prdess ENTER and initialization will start
  5. Once initialization is completed, power off unit and then power it back-up.
NOTE: This proceedure erases all data!

Load Screen Freeze w/ Roland VS-2400

The hard drive needs to be replaced. You can contact their customer service as to how to do this. It is relatively pain free and inexpensive as well.

Corrupted file blocks boot

Fro what I know its in a FAT 16 or 32 format, for the one who booted with other pc try to Move the file, at times it wont let u del but it'll move it to other pc if u can, if that dosent work yet if you can see your vs-200 40g small HD try to format it it shuld work, the boss/roland people shuld have given formating or reseting tools or shuld have them for free downloads, if not get the hard disk out plug it in other pc or portable and do as u like if its SCSI old and slow the so caled new then is older then my grandfather yet SCSI's are relible anyhow than you wont need controler card, you can do a lot, I am teling every one, they dont put inf memory and disk space, if the drive is compresed it dosent meter we want uncompres, I wrote all this couse you say you can boot with other pc, oh, a croslink files can be a problem mbr can be deleted and redone. good luck
