How to attach to my craftsmen router? I've inherited my Dads router, router table, and router guide. I have no idea how to use them. Will you please help me?

I have a craftsman router and table. On mine you remove all the screws from the base plate, set the base plate aside and use same screws to mount the router to the underside of the table.

My makita 3612c router sounds bad and don't function well ,as can be heard in the video, I can see sparks coming from the brushes!!! Any idea about how to fix? What is the cause of such a problem

You probably have no brushes left running on the armature hence the big sparks and noise. The armature will be beyond repair Take to an appliance repair shop but I fear that it will be cheaper to junk it and get a new one.. My experience with Makita is that the brand is selective in the quality.

Mounting the router under the table - what is the procedure and how does it work for a different brand of router i.e. Portercable?

Your insert plate should have holes to screw the base plate of your router to it. Do you have an insert plate? It's a must. The plate also has leveling screws at the corner so you can have it completely flush with your table top. Most plates fit the most popular routers, like Porter Cable. If your's does not fit, You can drill new holes into it without compromising its integrity.
Most woodworking sites carry different kinds of insert plates. You might also consider a router lift. I have one and consider it indispensable.

Hope this helps, if it does, please place a vote for me. Thanks,

I need the plastic plate for a Rockwell 4601 router. The part that rides on the wood. 703-635-5602

the original sub base for this tool is obsolete no replacement. My suggestion is to buy another MFR sub base the same size, (most are they used this plate on B&D, Porter Cable and others) and if the holes don't line up exactly you would need to drill and counter sink them. With a little effort on your part you can get this router running again. I checked 4 sites for this part and came up with the same on all about the obs no replacement. Let me know if you need more assistance. Thanks

I need a base plate for a Freud FT1702VCEK to make a router table will a FT1700 work.

I don't think I understand, because all routers come with a base plate, and to make a router table, you would want to remove the base plate from the router, and use the holes underneath that.

But there was a whole lot of discussion about the very same subject on a router forum, so maybe you will find the answer you need there?
