Question about Fisher and Paykel DEGX1 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Bought dryer In October 2007. Now the auto-dry cycle is not doing the job. Clothes are still quite damp when cycle shuts off. The lint bucket is not full and we cleaned out area leading to it along with checking the outside venting hose. All appear to be clear. What is the problem?

Dryer is set to run 40 mins when it shouts off at 0 on the dryer is has only run 20 mins according to my stove timer

Dryer has a moisture sensor that detects the clothes are dry so it shuts off earlier. If the clothes are still damp then the dryer vent may be plugged and causing the unit to run hot or not able to fully evacuate the air from the machine. Clean the vent and make sure it's completely free and try again. If it short cycles again and clothes still damp you may have a sensor controller issue.

Whirlpool gas dryer (WGD9450WR1) not drying on auto-cycles

try cleaning the 2 silver senser bars located inside the dryer drum on the door side with isopropyl alcohol and lint free wipes, these bars sense moisture and control timer speed, and when they get coated with the chemicals in dryer sheets they become coated and can no longer sense the damp clothes (these sensers use capacitance to sense moisture)

I have a Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGR6646BI-12 the clothes feel warm but not hot and they are still damp

The Dryness Level allows adjustment of how damp or dry the clothes are at the end of the cycle.
  1. Make sure the correct Cycle has been selected for the type of fabric being dried.
  2. If the correct cycle is selected and the clothes are still coming out too damp, use the Auto Dry Level button (Kenmore) or Dryness Level button to increase the Dryness level.

  1. If the highest Dryness Level setting was selected and the clothes are still damp, the Customer Focused Drying Mode settings that are built into the machine can be adjusted.
Dryers come from the factory set to Drying Mode 1 (default). Drying Modes 2 and 3, include additional drying time.
Note: This change will affect ALL Auto Dry cycles.
  1. Machine MUST be in Standby mode before beginning. (Standby mode = Plugged in, Power off)

  1. To select drying modes, momentarily press the Auto Dry Level button (Kenmore) or Dryness Level button (Whirlpool) again. The dryer will beep, and the display will flash and show the next drying mode number.
  1. With the door open and the display flashing the desired drying mode number, press the Start button to save the drying mode and exit diagnostics.
  1. Press the Pause/Cancel key at any time to cancel changes and exit from this mode.
Hope this works............

GE DWSR463EGWW electric dryer takes forever to dry clothes. Heating element comes on but then goes off. Where do I locate the thermal fuse if that is the problem.

The thermal fuse only shuts off the elements if the proper air flow isn't acheived. If the clothes are hot but still damp after the drying cycle then you have a blockage in the dryer exhaust either at the hose at the back of the machine or in the lint filter area. Check both and clean and your problem should be solved.

Hope this helped you

Dryer shuts off before the finish of the cycle. Clothes are not all the way dry.

If the dryer is on a timed-cycle dry, and the heat is too low and/or the air supply is restricted, the machine will shut off before everything is dry. If running on auto-sense dry, the exit air temperature sensor is shutting the machine off too soon or the air passing through the clothes is restricted somewhere and therefore getting too hot which shuts the machine off too soon. The primary suspect for air flow restriction is lint accumulation in the vents and/or the lint trap is plugged with fabric softener deposits--wash it in detergent and hot water. Hope this helps.

Machine drys fine on timed cycles but shuts off before clothes are dry on automatic cycle.

First try cleaning the moisture sensors with rubbing alcohol, these are two silver colored strips located inside the drier just below the lint cleanout
