Question about Samsung LN52A650A LCD TV

1 Answer

I have a Samsung TV, model number LN52A650A1FXZA. I've had it for 2 years and never had a problem. Always plugged it in with a surge protector. I recently moved and plugged the TV in without a surge protector, and now when I turn it on, it turns itself on and off several times before it actually stays on. How do I resolve this issue and will it cause me problems in the future?

Bad caps in power supply. Call Samsung immediately. They are covering many of these on 1-time courtesy repair.

Model # P18004W01B wont turn on after power failure even though it was plugged into a surge protector power strip.

Power surge protectors don't always work 100%.
Hopefully the TV has internal Diode protection and it can be fixed cheap

Surge problem? I have a Samsung LN40C530 LCD TV and when I plug in and turn on anything that pulls alot of power ( Vaccum,Iron, Perkulator coffee pot)into a wall plug on the same circurt my tv goes blank...

Your TV should not be sharing a circuit with any of the devices you mention. The problem is not surges, it's current drain. Apparently your TV is sensitive to voltage drops

My JVC flat screen won't turn on, tried unplugging and resetting. Stand-by light is still on. And it's attached to a surge protector than to the wall. I've only had this for 1 year.

More than likely its bad capacitors on the Power supply very common problem with most models. You can get repair kits or replacement power boards from www.tvrepairworld.com

My Samsung LN40C530 F1F just went out last night no power nothing I had it plugged into a surge protector, I tried an alternate power outlet I just purchased this TV last year July 10, 201.

Try without the surge protector.

Sometimes the power supplies go bad (could be your issue). Sometimes the back-lights go bad and it will seem like it is powering on (red light goes on/off) and you get audio but no picture.

You will be better off getting a new one rather than getting this one fixed. Unfortunately, sony and samsung are the best two brands. You can try calling Samsung to see what they will do for you (so close to your one-year warrantee).

Good luck.

Does my samsung tv keeping turning itself off because of not having plugged it into a surge protector or is it more a fault with my tv

It is a fault with your power supply module actually inside the tv...take it to a local service center or if its under warranty take it back. surge protectors help prevent issues like this occuring due to damage to the power supply from surges but not having one wont cause these problems unless it has recieved a surge.....in future i would use a surge protector on all your expensive appliances, surges and power fluctuations are very common in mains power i live near the mines and we have power problems all the time!! hope this helps, ben

No power on Samsung TV after storm

Hello Zkarim,

I'm very sorry to hear about your unfortunate new's. I had the same problem in my own home maybe a week ago.

Basically if your power flickered on and off at anytime during this storm then there was a power surge that probably fried your TV.
* First check the power where the tv was plugged in. Is it a power strip or a surge protector ? Surge protectors typically have an on/off switch and a separate reset push button.

If it is a power strip then the tv fried because there was nothing to stop it from happening (not even the fuse). If it was plugged into a surge protector then it could be quiet a few years old and not as reliable or the surge was to powerful for the limit on the surge protector.

The only thing you can do personally is send it in for repair if it's under warranty, if it is not then you can have it looked at by an authorized repair technician in your area. Troubleshooting should be fairly low, and you will at least be able to find out your options once they find the defected part.

Thank you for choosing Fixya!
