Question about Hotpoint HSS25IFMCC / HSS25IFMWW Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Water is going into the dual valve but is not going any further. Could it be power problem or the valve or something else. When we press the lever on the door to the water, the light comes on but no noise or anything else.

Verify that when you push in the paddle for the water in the door that you have 120 volts to the selenoid on the water valve, it will be the one that has the largest line coming out of the bottom of the valve

I have a Kitchenaid model ksrk25 that the water dispenser does not dispense water and the ice maker that was working has stopped making ice

It is rare that both sides of the water control valve go bad at the same time, but possible. I will need someone to examine the dual water control valve on rear near floor on the back of your refrigerator. Click here for a=> KSRK25FVBL00 Parts Manual Test the dual water control valve with a multi meter set for 120 VAC and place the probes into the wires that attach to the dual water control dispenser side and have someone press the water dispense control in fountain. With the dispense water pressed look for voltage on your multi-meter. Use care not to touch probes or bare wires to prevent getting shocked while testing. If you do not already have Adobe Reader on your computer click here first=> Adobe Reader X (10.1.1) You can also check the water control valve for ice maker by testing the ohm value first by removal of the front cover on ice maker and then placing the test meter probes in to the N and V opening You should get 150 to 350 ohm's of resistance. Also if your ice maker is dry and has no water then fill with tap water and then allow to freeze. If Ice drops into ice bin and then does not refill with water will point to repacing the water valve. If the clip is not below this post click here=> Broken Ice Maker Repair You also can find parts and user manuals by clicking HERE Sometimes the ice maker is the problem with the water control valve not working on the ice maker side. 2198597 Ice Maker Assembly Watching the clip is really a great way of explaining how to test ice maker and replacing water control valve if needed. Maytag Model MFD2561HEW - Water dispenser on wall. SUDDENLY STOPPED DISPENSING WATER. Replaced water filter but DID NOT correct problem.

Most likely reason will be the dual water control valve has become defective on the water dispenser side. See part location 10=> HERE That part is Click Here=> 67003818 Dual Water Control Valve

If you would like to test you can test while carefully testing the voltage being sent there when the cup dispenser switch is pressed. You can also test the coils in each solenoid on the dual water control valve to compare their resistance. They should both equal about the same reading. Use care in that area as the wires leading to the water control valve if wet can produce a bad shock hazzard without pressing the dispenser switch. The only other thing that bay cause this is a bad dispenser switch part. Click Here=> Maytag Water Dispenser Components Click Here=> 12575501 Dispenser Limit Switch

Water dispenser will not stop

Your water control valve is stuck open because of defective microswitch in door dispenser. (Behind where you press your glass) or the water control valve that opens when dispenser is pressed is stuck open due to particals of debris caught in the dual water control valve. Our icemaker had a red blinking light and wasn't working. We took out the bin and let it defrost - cleaned it out (turned it off). Then after it was clean put it back in the freezer - we switched it to...

The bimetal thermostat embedded inside your ice maker is what tells the water control valve to open on rear of refrigerator near floor where the water supply enters the refrigerator. That water valve has two sides. One for the water dispenser and other for ice maker. I will try to make this simple and in my words because Whirlpool now owns Maytag and its related brand names. They do not allow me to provide the service manual any longer so I need to place my on work here. Even with what I believe is the problem you may have a technician or someone that is comfortable working with electricity test the dual water control valve on back and near floor.
Test for continuity and resistance on both sides with power disconnected from dual water control valve. Both sides should show very close to the same amount of resistance. Use care testing water control valve because of the risk of shock especially if wet. Click Here=>

Number 13 in that photo is the Ice Makers thermostat Part Number=> Pin Style Icemaker Thermostat 627985
The dual Water Control valve is Part Number=> 61005626 Dual Water Control Valve
Another way of testing ice maker is to fill with tap water and turn on. If ice freezes and drops then the dual water control valve needs to be replaced. If not working then you have two options and that is a complete Ice Maker Assembly Part Number=> D7824706Q or replace parts.

Ice maker not working

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. It’s on the back where the water supply comes in. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

I can't get water from the refegerator

Do you hear a click when you call for water?
Check the dual water valve solenoid for power when you press the water lever. If there is no voltage - the microswitch for the lever may be faulty.
If there is power - the water valve solenoid is failed and needs replacement.

Either your dual water control valve is defective on both sides or you need a new door switch. Have someone check the power to the water control valve wile someone presses dispense. Sea Breeze

Water dispenser won't work

Could be a bad micro switch or the bracket that holds it in place is broken. Could be a bad water valve. In some rare cases could be a wiring problem. If you know how, you can check to see if your getting power to the water valve when trying to get water. If you have power and no water then the valve is bad. It's a dual valve. If no power to the valve then it's likely something to do with the microswitch or wiring.
