Don't know about your power problem, maybe you could be more specific. But, as for opening the case. Try this: Use a small flat screwdriver to pry outwards, on the nuts on the inside of the wheels, using the center piece as a leverage point. careful, it takes very little pressure to knock them loose. Behind three of the five nuts are holding screws. this will allow you to get at the fenders and remaining case screws. Note you will also have to remove 2 small screws in the back between the (RYW) AV connectors before splitting the case. Good luck.

I have a Sanyo Model # DP42841 and the unit will not turn on. No Signal light, is there a reset button?

Hi
You have a dead set. The first step is to open the case and check if main fuse.is open. In this case replace the fuse with a new one of same value. But if the fuse is blackened, you have a short in the power supply or in its output which require another approach
Be careful on dealing with high voltage parts and follow security instructions.

When I power up thr TV it immediately poers back down BEFORE the screen shows a 'picture'.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like the "over voltage protect circuit" is doing its job. There is a 130 volt regulator circuit in the power supply that limits the high voltage to around 30,000 volts at the second anode of the picture tube which limits the x-rays emitted from the crt. If the regulator fails, there is this over voltage protect circuit, which immediately shuts down the power supply and the TV. Turning off the TV resets the protect circuit. Turning the set back on, will cause the protect circuit to engage again. If you're competent in electronics, it is possible to aquire the parts and do a successful repair for under $20.00 in parts, but beware, there are a lot of dishonest people out there ready to take your money. Hope this helps! Dano

Cost?

Hello Exorbio,

As stated the problem is a lack of horizontal deflection. A ballpark figure on this would be as follows (take into mind this is the worse case scenario):

Parts:
1) Yoke transformer (if windings are open or shorted) $50.00
2) Fly-back transformer (if windings are open or shorted ,most likely shorted) $25.00
3) Horizontal Output Transistor (if going bad) $19.95 (sold in packs)
4) yoke capacitor (if defective) $1.49
5) Horizontal driver Transistor (if going bad) $10.95 (sold in packs)
6) Misc parts $20.00

Labor:
$60.00 per troubleshooting hour (standard troubleshooting time 2hrs) $120.00 (total)
$70.00 per repair hour (standard repair time 1hr) $70.00 (total)

Parts Total: $127.39

Labor Total: $190.00

shipping and handling for parts: $55.00

Grand Total: $ 372.39 (This is just a ballpark figure based on the worse case and the straight totals of parts, labor, and shipping costs)

This could cost much less depending on if only one of the listed components is bad.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

DVD tray doesn't open

Open the casing by removing the 12 screws. 2 of which on the top of the console. Believe it or not the lugnuts need to be removed for access to more of the screws.( be careful and look 2 see which ones are removable). After the tires are gone u will see screws for the fenders, Remove them and u should have enough room to access the dvd tray amongst other things!! Good luck and be gentle
